I recently invested in a few months of Mullvad, and I'm not ultra-paranoid about my use case, so I threw them a few bucks laying around a Paypal account. I've had no real issues with it - Pluto.tv still works when using a US server, Youtube seems to throw more ads at me, and blocks yt-dlp entirely (I poked a hole for it in the VPN client and it worked fine). I didn't have any major services freaking out about a mysterious location logging in - probably cause all my cookies were still in my browser. So yeah, maybe in a few months the extra encryption will pay off, but my point is it was a pretty seamless experience.

I use ExpressVPN because the Angry Video Game Nerd told me to. I have it on 100% of the time. I have no complaints. If I was from a progressive utopia where they send you to prison for disagreeing with the government I'd probably invest in something more robust, but praise be to Allah, I'm not.

Although I've been noticing there are a ton of sites that have its IPs blacklisted so I'm forced to turn it off every so often. I'm not sure if every VPN is like that. If not, that issue alone would be enough for me to switch.

Proton because i need a VPN that supports port forwarding.
