Pride Month

I swear I saw that same flag on AliExpress or some other similar website. Also it's hilarious how this person fails to understand that communist regimes were as unkind to the Jewish people as a certain Austrian was. Advocating for the destruction of your own kind, very lol much irony.

College Marxists are a dime a dozen but the ones who are still wearing Che shirts past the age of 30 are the true idiots.

When Stalin died of a brain hemorrhage, he was at the end phase of planning a 2nd holocaust against Jews in Russia. The Doctor's Plot had started only a month or two before he croaked. Jews won the lottery when Stalin keeled over dead, because he would have made the Third Reich look like a puppet show.

I hate to use a warhammer reference but academic communists remind me of the genestealer cults. Their version of history is so heavily redacted and edited that they pray for salvation from people like Lenin and Trotsky without having the information to know their kind will be the first in line to be purged in the event that they "win."

Google drops drag show sponsorship in wake of Christian employee petition

Might be nothing, this is Google after all, but interesting.

I'm subscribed to a few PR/marketing publications. I've seen a few articles come out about the Bud Light controversy. It's interesting to see how they try to downplay the impact that collaborating with Dylan had on the brand. This one article that came out in April tried to make it seem like consumers weren't as mad about the collaboration as they appeared to be on social media.

A few quotes:

The study finds that people perceive greater moral outrage in political posts than the authors felt when writing those posts. And that seems especially true for those turning to social media to learn about a political issue.

Marketers need to resist the very human tendency to overreact to online vitriol. Rather than jumping to conclusions and ending a campaign, "you need to do market research before interpreting the social media outrage. The combination of algorithmic amplification and perception biases people have can make it seem that outrage is more intense than it really is," he says.

Of course, there are exceptions when it seems outrage might hurt market share. "These cases are exceedingly rare, however," Brady says. "In general, research shows that "canceling" is not nearly as prevalent as most people think it is."

This week, I got another email from a different publication, where they now admit that the backlash was bad, but seem to try to give LGBT consumers some of the credit for the boycott.

Since going live, the ad drew criticism from conservative audiences, with some social media users posting footage of themselves pouring out Bud Light and calling for a boycott of the brand. In response, the company’s leadership tried to distance the brand from the partnership.

This move drew more backlash, this time from the LGBTQ+ community, causing some LGBTQ+ bars to stop serving products from Anheuser-Busch, Bud Light’s parent company.

By May, Bud Light experienced a 23% drop in sales compared to the prior year, and a dip in stock price. It’s worth noting, the controversy may not be the only deciding factor of Bud Light’s declining sales. Alcohol consumption has been on the decline for some time, especially among younger millennials and Gen Z.

This series of events has been dubbed the “Bud Light effect” which may give companies some pause when it comes to sharing controversial topics.
Despite what critics of the Mulvaney ad may say, Bud Light has a long history of LGBTQ+-inclusive marketing. The brand has been in partnership with GLAAD since 1998, has sponsored multiple Pride celebrations, and ran an ad in 2016 depicting the wedding of a same-sex couple... However, by downplaying the partnership with Mulvaney the brand makes its prior inclusive marketing efforts appear inauthentic, further alienating customers.

Even though the article mentions that there was also backlash from "conservative audiences", those are mentioned as an aside, whereas the article really seems to focus on the response from LGBT customers, and even tries to downplay the response by attributing it to other unrelated factors.

I don't have a big point to make with this information, just wanted to share it, as I haven't seen anyone talking about what marketing people are actually saying about this. It doesn't seem like they've really learned anything, so get ready for more woke and tone-deaf ad campaigns, I guess.

there's one way to stay ahead of the curve, if you say you come for the kids from the start, anyone calling you a pedo is late. quite an interesting tactic.

they know, but they either think they'll be important enough to not end up at the wall like the other trash or "this time it won't happen", because history isn't cyclical or something...

LAKE STEVENS — For the past two years, Mayor Brett Gailey signed a proclamation declaring June as Pride Month in Lake Stevens.
Not this year.
Gailey made it known that he is withholding his signature due to personal beliefs.
That’s according to City Council member Anji Jorstad, who wrote the city’s first Pride proclamation in 2021.
The move surprised some and disappointed others.
“If Brett actually believed what he signed in the proclamation before, then I don’t understand how those beliefs can change,” Casey Strom, a Lake Stevens Pride board member, said in an interview late last week. “It makes me think either he was lying before or he’s lying now.”

At a May 2021 city council meeting, Gailey even discussed the need for a Community Advisory Council to promote inclusivity.
“I see this council leading our community in celebrating diversity as an important asset in our welcoming city,” Gailey said at the meeting in 2021.
Gailey did not respond to multiple requests for comment to discuss his apparent change of heart.
Pride proclamations are a significant marker of support and safety for the LGBTQ+ community, Strom said.

This year, Gov. Jay Inslee, County Executive Dave Somers, and city officials in Snohomish, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mill Creek, Mukilteo and Mountlake Terrace have signed Pride proclamations. Many Snohomish County cities, including Monroe and Arlington, have hosted official Pride events or partnered with their community’s nonprofit Pride organizations.
In response to Gailey’s decision, Jorstad sought council support. But when she offered a motion to discuss the proclamation at a June 13 council meeting, only one other council member, Mary Dickinson voted in favor. The other five voted against.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, several community members expressed disappointment.
“(It) is not OK if this is what our city is representing — a lack of visibility and lack of representation,” resident Terry Bakavich said. “You should do better.”
Strom said what he found most disappointing wasn’t that the council majority denied the proclamation, but that they refused to discuss it. He sent an email to Gailey and the council seeking an explanation.
“If I go back to 15-year-old high school Casey in the closet, and I see that my elected officials won’t even talk about this, that’s like hardcore rejection,” Strom said.
As mentioned in the proclamation Gailey originally signed, LGBTQ+ youth are four times as likely to attempt suicide and experience higher rates of violence, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A 2020 UCLA study found that sexual minority adults are twice as likely to experience homelessness.
Council member Kim Daughtry was the only city official to respond to Strom’s email, records obtained by The Herald show. He refused to answer Strom’s questions over email, citing “trust issues.”
“I have found over the years that I have a hard time conveying my thoughts in the written word and then they get used to attack me,” Daughtry wrote.
Daughtry declined comment.
Lake Stevens resident James Harmon also emailed the council, and submitted a letter to the editor published in the Herald on June 20. He said his email went unanswered.
“This is an ongoing trend among the mayor and city council,” Harmon said. “They don’t care or listen to the community, and are more concerned with their own interests … and people who are like them.”
Strom said he and other Lake Stevens Pride organizers received “overwhelming” community support for the family-friendly event held Saturday at Lundeen Park.
Jorstad said the council received at least 20 emails in support of the LGBTQ+ community following last week’s meeting.
“This is a great opportunity to show the community, especially the LGBTQ+ community, that the words and actions of a few aren’t representative of everyone,” she said.

It's funny how these are also the people so obsessed with "dogwhistles", like saying "it's okay to be white" is codeword for "we need to kill all non-white people" and freak out over the OK sign and the number 88. But somehow when they straight up tell you what they want, it doesn't actually mean that.

Even with all the knowledge you have, it's extremely debilitating to be in city centers but LGBT is the cherry on top of the shitty streets. But even if they do support this, they must be so careful not to have one of their construction marking look even vaguely like a swastika when constructing a giant dildo. The alphabet mafia is more unstable than serial killers at this point.

It makes me wonder how many companies are following the whims of an algorithm/data analysis, etc. while not considering the human factor of things. I wonder if that is why there are a lot of contemporary advertisements and commercials that push for inclusion because the algo says it is a popular subject based off search results. Well that and woke millennials are just now advancing up the corporate ladder to a point where they have power over business decisions.

I wonder how many people will be supporting next years Pride Month. It felt a bit lower this year compared to last years.
A bit lower? I have never seen so much less support than this year. 2024 is going to be even more hilarious. I hope in 5-10 years pride month turns into pride week which is still more than the rainbow monsters deserve.
