Prince Charles loves ‘gimp masks for cows’ that will cut methane from their burps

Prince Charles has backed a mask device for cows that would capture their burps to tackle carbon emissions.
The device is worn around the animal’s face and is designed to neutralise the methane they omit in real time.
He met with the contraption’s designer during a climate change event, during which he aired concerns over the ‘urgency’ with which it is being tackled.
Charles spoke with designers at a Royal College of Art event working on novel ways to bring down carbon emissions.
Francisco Norris, founder of Zelp (Zero Emission Livestock Project) said it was a ‘great honour’ to speak with the prince, four years after first showing him his striking invention.
The cattle industry is a major contributor to the planet’s carbon footprint, with natural omissions from cows putting huge quantities of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every day.
Charles was assured the face device ‘doesn’t bother them at all’ when he asked if it was ‘annoying’ for the cow wearing it.

He visited the university’s new Terra Carta Design Lab in south London to meet with the winners of a design competition.
Speaking at the event, he said there are ‘crises that are confronting us in all directions’ arising from climate change, which highlighted the importance of ‘finding solutions rapidly’.
He added that, with the designers’ ingenuity, ‘we will have a better chance of winning this battle in shorter time’.
Another winning team, Amphitex by Amphibo, presented a white shirt made of their 100% recyclable, waterproof and breathable sportswear fabric to the prince.

One of the designers, Isabella MacKenzie, said that Charles joked about ‘the colour white not looking good on him’, while fellow designer Jun Kamei said he was ‘very curious’ about the product.
Charles launched the competition alongside Sir Jony, chancellor of the RCA, as part of the Prince of Wales’ Sustainable Markets Initiative.
It was inspired by the initiative’s Terra Carta, or Earth Charter, which is a road-map for businesses to set commitments for sustainability by 2030.
The four winners will receive £50,000 from the Sustainable Markets Initiative as seed funding to invest in their start-up businesses.

I don’t want to sound ungentlemanly, but I think Mrs Prince Charles is past the child stage.

It's pretty clear his tastes run more towards livestock than prepubescent children.

Charles isn't a nonce; he's an idiot. There's a difference.

From what I understood Camilla can actually carry a conversation and be a fun person, while Diana was a hysteric drama queen with a Messiah complex. It's the cases when you need to choose between looks and personality.
And his "son" (ie, Diana's personal trainer's son) did a even worse mistake.

Nobody involved in this project stopped to wonder if burping has an actual physiological function. They just assume cows do it for fun and must be punished for it. The ignorance is honestly difficult to believe.

Cows eat plants. Raw plants - namely cellulose - cannot be innately digested. No, not even by cows. Instead, they rely on intestinal flora to break down and ferment the cellulose. Fermentation creates tons of CO2. If that CO2 doesn't get released somehow, the stomach will rupture, and the cow will suffer horribly until it does.

Good to know that "our betters" would rather have more animal cruelty than tell China & India to knock their shit off.

I don't care if it's "racist", those countries create so much pollution that it offsets our efforts to cripple ourselves go green.
India has an entire slave class that does nothing but scrape impacted shit out of drains and empties industrial chemicals directly into their "holy mother ganges" where they bathe. Where do these fucking street shitters get off coming to western countries and preaching down to people about how superior they are?

I thought at the time, that taking an ugly mistress said something for his character.

From what I can tell, it doesn't stop the cow from burping, it simply captures it, and then feeds the gas to a passive catalyst in the neck device to neutralize it.

Regardless of how it works, I still don't like it. I find it doubtful that the cows "don't mind it". There are far better ways to deal with the issue of methane release. Most of it has to do with the crap feed they give cows. Better Feed = Less Gas, that has been proven many times over. They just don't want to pay more to let cows properly graze or give them better feed.

Aside from whether or not these are even humane to use, they look really expensive. If they have to fit every cow with one of these beef is going to become very, very expensive to offset the costs of the machinery.

It's hard to tell how it works, namely because it's purely conceptual at this point. It's like Solar Freaking Roadways where a scientifically-illiterate person thought up an idea that sounds kind of cool as long as you don't think too hard about it. All he "knows" is that the device will somehow make the methane go away. We can sort out the details later.

I assumed it was basically a muzzle because the idea of selling farmers complex machines that they have to hook to their cows to reduce total methane emissions by 1% is actually even dumber. Like you said, the problem is garbage in, garbage out. Garbage is going in because it's cheap. Anti-methane Bane masks aren't going to be cheap.

When cows graze doesn't it replenish the grass faster? I read that grazing is actually really good for grass and encourages new growth. Corn makes farts.

I think this is cruelty to animals. I hope the people who came up with this are reincarnated as cows forced to wear these masks.
See
But it's so much more efficient to pack a bunch of cows in on a high density feed lot and pump them full of chaff and plant scraps until they're knee-deep in their own shit and wish for death.

It's all for the profit margin even at the cost of so much suffering and supposed pollution. I don't like vegans but when you look at how disgusting Big Meat is I see why they have animal cruelty as justification for their practice. It's hard to even buy from ethical farms because they're put under so much government bullshit as well.

I never understand how they claim all these cows grazing etc damages the environment more than anything else, when the planet has dealt with herds upon herds of similar animals throughout the eons that do the exact same thing, and still didn't explode from all the gas. Heck, half the giant, herbivorous dinosaur population probably put more gases into the atmosphere in one year compared to the tiny time speck that is agriculture and modern cows.

A good chunk of that pollution is literally a product of Western consumerism. We export our energy demands to shithole countries so we can feel good about how green we are with our lack of emissions.
It's kinda brilliant how this grift works: Keep pushing green shit in The West, giving the left a cudgel against the right that doesn't want any of it. Keep outsourcing our emissions to the East so the right has an air of legitimacy to outright disregard green developments that actually make sense. All while nobody actually decries the real source of the problem. It's a red herring to distract from, perhaps the core to nearly all of the West's ills, rampant consumerism.

This is animal abuse! Lord please strike down the evil Royal Family Amen.

He is a kid diddler just like his brother prince Andrews, same can be said of the queen and late prince Phillip. The world is run by satanic pedophiles. You need only to read/hear what these degenerate inbreds think of us commoners. They call us usless eaters, they are all for The Great Reset. You Britts need to man up and remove these parasites for your and the entire world's sake. I say this as a half British man who has my mother's side of side of the family lives there, God Bless you.

Case in point: At their peak there was something around 30 million bison in North America. Go back even further to the ice ages and you had mammoth herds, mastodon, and other megafauna in addition to the bison. What you say about the dinosaurs is probably true, CO2 levels during the Mesozoic period were very high but for more reasons than just dinosaur gasses.

It really is laughable to think that after everything the Earth has been through over billions of years, it only takes 150 years of industry from some large hairless primate to kill it dead. And above all, why are the anointed ones still buying beachfront properties? Why are those properties still going at a premium if they're just going to be underwater soon?

We're in the middle of an ice age right now, we just happen to be in a inter-glacial period. It's a comfy oasis in the middle of a epoch that fills the majority of the planet with glaciers and ice sheets and we should enjoy it while it lasts. All the talk of climate change aside, scientists are still saying everything is going to freeze over again in some thousands of years.
