PS Quad: A Ticking Time Bomb?

^ I love that song! It's so true! I should memorize the words and sing it to people!

The Xbone seems to be a bigger ticking time bomb. I've heard the disk drives are really faulty.

Serious? After all the fuckups and bad publicity the 360 got over the Red Ring, you'd think they'd really make sure nothing stupid like that would happen again.

It apparently has one gigantic fan to cool the beast down and even then it apparently runs into heating problems.

I should note my X1 runs flawlessly. There are problems but there will be duds in every batch.

My console has about 6 fans in it and a fan on the video card, and very decent airflow going through it. It's never overheated in the year I've had it and it's been turned on for days on end.

It's called my PC. Checkmate consolefags.

*SIGH* Someone always has to mix PC gaymen with console gaymen.

My PS3 overheated while my brother was playing Skyrim. THOUSANDS of American Dollars and Cents gone down the drain :heart-empty:

And yeah, it's always better to buy consoles after launch, around 6 months- 1 year later, especially if you haven't been saving money for it. The library gets large enough by then, and you're more likely to find cheaper prices. Along with the patching of technical problems being available by then.

The point I'm trying to make is that with modern consoles they're always trying to shove so much shit into such a little box. My PC is massive so it has a bunch of room for massive video cards, a Blue Ray drive, 6 fans and like ten hard drives. The PS4 is a fraction of the size of that so as a result it has this big video card, this Blue Ray drive and a hard drive and all of the other good stuff that comes with it. This leaves barely any room for fans and as a result it has to rely mainly on airflow to keep it cool, but people like to keep their consoles surrounded by a bunch of shit.

I had a gaming rig, getting a new one in a few months I will have another one, on top of nearly 20 consoles. /gloriousgaminggod

Go with AMD cards and processors. They're cheaper and more powerful.

I'm a PC snob, but I can understand the appeal of consoles. You can just put in a disc and play a game, without having to fiddly fuck with updates and drivers and that kind of shit, like it's 1995 and you're updating your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT.

But these new gen of consoles, it's like they're trying to merge all of the unappealing aspects of consoles with all of the unappealing aspects of PC's.

It's also the fact that there are numerous console games that never get ported to PC.

I'm actually considering buying a PS3 entirely because of it's backwards compatibility to the PSX. The PSX has some of my all time favorite games on it, many of which were never ported to the PC and run shittily via emulators. Or the PC version was inferior to the PSX version like Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver (Where only half the tracks in the soundtrack actually play and the rest are unused unlike the PSX version) or Tomb Raider 3 (Where they redid the save system to quick saves as opposed to the much more interesting save game crystal system they had in the PSX version).

There are loads more recent examples. The original Saints Row remains to this day a 360 exclusive (and it's a fairly enjoyable game to boot). The Darkness was an excellent PS3/360 game that was never ported to PC, instead we got it's worse sequel.

With the PS4 I see extremely little reason to get one at launch mostly because the launch line-up is nothing special, it's multimedia capabilities are arguably worse and it has no backwards compatibility.

Given the stupid long install times on my X1, yea its ridiculous.
