Now, a lot of you I know have seen a lot of silly things in your lifetime on the internet, came across a lot of "lolcows", big and small. I assume you probably also came across such awkward things such as this as well:

Average Joe, after seeing a poorly done YouTube video: Gee, this video was stupid

Strange little man: You're stupid.

Average Joe: Is that really the best you can do?

Strange little man: *Pulls out assault rifle* you think you can do better?

Average Joe: ... Whut?

I myself came across something like this just last night while checking the comments of a shitty video I came across, and a few other times back when I used to go to Deviant Art. I always found it rather disturbing when people would randomly start RPing in the middle of an argument (one partially scarring time was when I found this one argument between a very strange man and a Normal Normon, where at one point the weirdo suddenly "roleplays" that a bunch of clowns or something came and tied up the guy he was arguing with... As if that was going to scare him. It didn't, though, and he "released" him afterwards.. Just thinking about it makes it hard to type without cringing).

My question to you, oh well traveled fellows, is... Why? Why do people think that pretending to pull out a beam sword or whatever is going to help win an argument? Also, while we are at it, maybe even share your strange experiences with people who, well, tried this shit with someone during their own bickering.

It got downvoted so much it wound up being hidden, so it was kind of a bitch to go back and find.

I think it's a combination of trying to be tough and Random Access Humor. And Autism.

Chances are, they think that when they *pull out an assault rifle* that's going to mitigate a bit of the tension and get the other person to see their side of the argument by getting a laugh out of them. At the same time, they're not letting their guard down by saying something seemingly threatening. Of course, it's going to fail miserably because it's so out of place and unfunny to begin with. So yeah, it's Autism with a side of Random Access Humor.
 
I recall this one babyfur guy that hated just about everything and was all about starting fights on deviantART, and he was huge on *action asterisks*

*punches OtherPerson01's teeth down his/her throat*
*rips off JoeRandom's head with his spine dangling and twitching*
"YOU ARE THE EMERGENCY ROOM CANDIDATE"

he kind of just disappeared.
 
I remember a similar incident over on DA. Sometimes I see two users commenting to eachother on some random deviation, and all of the sudden, they start getting into a cybersex roleplay. For everyone else to see.

Because it's too much work to draw a comic about them or create them as a video game character and beat them up on easy-mode. Just *beats you up in role play actions* and they can get it out of their system without any real effort.

No, it wasn't Rose amazingly. All I remember about it was that these two tartlets started roleplaying about having sex with some guy that was in the deviation in question. Don't ask me for the details, it was messed up. :(

To be perfectly honest, so long as its done in a PURELY parodic/piss-taking manner i think it can provide some mild amusement. For example the "avatar war" a few forums ago where we rpd our avatars fighting each other was quite a laugh
 
All the rp comment stuff I put up there in the same catagory as cell phone text message abbreviations. It's just stupid crap kids came up with because of technology.

yeah, some kids can be retarded, like, this one kid that was like "You can't hurt me! Danny Phantom will protect me!" and he was serious, even when I said that Danny Phantom was not real.
