Q about video game graphics and F characters?

Is it just me, or did developers try to make F characters (think early PS Lara Croft) attractive in the early days when graphics were very limited. And now we have graphics that look real-life, developers are intentionally making F characters not attractive?

Did someone in the games industry say something like "graphics are getting better, make sure the F characters aren't too good looking because pervy men might wank to them"? Even though by this stage internet porn exists and noone needs to load up old Tomb Raider to wank at Lara's point low-res tits.

Eh. A little of column A and B. Graphics getting better hasn't contributed as much to the debeautification as the influence of politics on character design. Plus it's not like any of this has any bearing on porn games or eroge.
