Plot twist: not only is the game made in Unreal Engine, but it's also a sequel to Quake 4(plays worse than it in every way).
Multiplayer is DOA because the devs care more about the shop and battle pass seasons over proper functionality. 2 months in, there is anime skins and crossovers with other Microsoft franchises, like Call of Duty, Fallout, Halo ect. and the entire Quake aesthetic is ruined. The only free cosmetic items are given away during Pride Month.
I played one level and man, that indeed was a Quake level. I dunno i kind of feel like Machine Games made something more fun with their Quake 2 expansion pack than their Quake 1 ones so far

We’re so fucking back bros.
Mi played the first level and started on the second. This absolutely feel like quake 1. These expansions are all I really expect at this point for a new Quake 1.
Can’t wait to play it on my desktop, lights off, blasting NIN and Manson while playing Quake like the good ole days
An ID title made on anything other than IDtech feels morally wrong. Why didn't ID just cut off from cuckhesda under micropenis while they had the chance?
Also, saw the new expansion pack and forgot Quake is 30 now. Fuck i should get around to playing Quake+all the expansions.
Hot take but gameplay wise, WOLF:the new colossus was legitimately great. It just sucks that they used all the funding for the shitty pozzed story and shoving it full of cutscenes...IN A WOLFENSTEIN TITLE!
Oh and i heard the Indiana Jones game is pretty good. Though it's not really a shooter from what i know. Mostly a action adventure title rather than a shooter.
MachineGames are Swedes hence the peak cuckery. Sweden Yes!
Gameplay in W:TNC was great. Graphics were great too. Music was good too (Venus ambient tracks comes to mind.) The story? Everytime a prerendered cutscene was playing I was erratically pressing the Enter key to skip. I didn't care for Debora Willson: A Wolfenstein Fanfic - The Movie. OK I lied, I saw the pregnant Anya vs. Panzerhund cutscene because I needed a good laugh.
I would rather them not. I don't trust NightDive nor idthesda. Leave these two dead franchises to the few dedicated autistic men in dresses to play with.
A new and free episode was released today. Dawn of the Machine. https://youtube.com/watch?v=2Uf4PcgE8gA Note:
This episode currently only runs on their proprietary KEX engine. Ironwail doesn't support it (yet.)

done did the newest campaign and I'm having a bitter aftertaste
it is definitely more enjoyable than the previous two MG xpacs because the levels seem like they were designed as levels and not as engine showcases, though I did get hopelessly lost in a few of them and wanted to give up once it seemed like the game wanted me to replay each episode again, this time with the ability to unlock previously inaccessible doors, thankfully that wasn't the case, they also LOVE spamming Enforcers and Ogres in far ends of rooms, the visuals were still spectacular
looks like the swedes took notes from QC and leaned fully into Ranger gradually losing his marbles wandering through endless dimensions, we also get the scope of how just much of a fuckup the slipgate experiment along with Operation Counterstike were - there are places where this expansion legit feels like Antichamber
I very much appreciate how this one seems to have an actual progressing plot and backstory that is told through both the changing environment and tomes scattered around the maps - I was almost getting into it with the whole Queen worship thing and the gradual corruption and descent into demonic madness but then you're just blueballed at the end when you need to power up a thingamajig and fight Cthon again this time in a bullet hell scenario
the storytelling element felt so strong in fact that I think they're actually laying down the foundation for an honest to God sequel
the levels set in Queen's domain were easily the highlight, can't believe I'm saying this but I hope the next Quake has a proper plot - Doom suffered greatly due to them turning "angry man kills demons on Mars" into capeshit, but I don't believe Quake will suffer the same fate the winged figure I believe is what Shub-Niggurath presented herself as when humanity first encountered her through the slipgate experiment, you even visit a cursed village in the middle of properly spooky woods in one of the later levels when the corruption is way past obvious
word of advice if you're planning a nightmare playthrough - right now it's not really possible because the game just resets your difficulty to easy
I’m taking my sweet time playing the new xp. Love some of the new mechanics, weapons, and enemies. But even on easy, the game can be difficult. But maybe I suck at games on my first playthrough which is why it feels a bit harder.
One of my favorite mods/map packs is Alkaline for Quake 1. The base levels in Q1 are highly-underrated because they have a futuristic but worn-down, grimy, and rusty atmosphere that Q2 seems to lack despite everything being built by cyborgs in Q2.
