- woman aint as much of a threat
- it's easier to throw her to the bear
- a second man aint making dealing with the bear any easier
- woman eats less
- you get to feel all cool cause of tryin to get a lady out of a pickle
- easier to manipulate or threaten (for example to try eating them berries or drinking the water to test it or to make her hand the berries over)

Regardless of gender the person would likely just be a liability and not add any value to actually surviving the situation, also since the bear spawns away from you all you'd have to do is get your bearings find the nearest source of water and follow it until it leads to some kind of camp or dock where people are.
