So much for the Sunshine State being tough on crimes against children. $60,000 payout is nothing to the Duggar dynasty. And his wife is, of course, going to stand by her man. Fuck this whole situation, it pisses me off.

Somebody on the snark sub theorized Daddy JB wouldn't spend the $60k/ten percent (which he wouldn't get back even if Joe doesn't flee), if he had the option he would put up one or more of his properties for the whole $600k and I believe it completely - with his whole no-debt ethos it tracks so he isn't even out the money. We're still waiting to find out if Joe has to stay in FL or not as well, I imagine one of the Bay County news networks will have the paperwork by tomorrow at the latest so we'll know either way.

I don't know where the kids are, but yes dim bulb and meech are licensed foster parents. They were fostering Michelle's nephew, and they were going to adopt him but it fell through because, with his mother's approval, his grandparents petitioned for custody and won to give him a more "stable" home.

In one of the phone calls she tells him, repeatedly, that her priority is the kids and getting them back, and she says it in a way like she's warning him, which is very good to hear. You can also tell she's trying not to incriminate him, but is telling him she's not happy with him. She makes a comment like she's had to grow up so fast (lady you have 4 children and you're almost 30, the fuck?) but she"s going to do whatever she can for the kids. Including making changes and, presumably, throwing Joe under the fucking bus where he should be. So there's at least some understanding of the gravity of all this on her part.

Makes sense if you think about how women aren't really full adults in that culture in that they don't have to/get to make any major decisions and now she's suddenly independent in that way.

There are a lot of phonecalls out there now and Kendra sounds on the verge of a mental breakdown in many of them. She's obviously not built to deal with anything like this. There's a lot less giggling and fawning at Joe in the later calls. She's horsing down Benadryl to be able to sleep (you can tell she's really out of it in some calls), not eating and having to get IVs, so weak she can barely walk, and not even able to bring herself to read the Bible which was the only advice Joe was able to offer her about her current problems.

Kendra has been seeing a counselor for a year apparently and getting IVs frequently. Joe made comments about how they'd been keeping to themselves a lot, but they were starting to realize they needed to be around people more again right before he was arrested. It almost sounds like she's had some chronic physical and mental health problems going on.

A lot of Duggars are supporting her in various ways - "These ones are working on the kids, these ones are working on me [Kendra], these ones are working on attorneys, these ones are working on business." Michelle and especially Joy have been physically taking care of her while a few of the brothers have been helping her with Joe's businesses and selling off any assets they need for some immediate cash. Jed and Jeremiah have taken over handling his Airbnb business (Ironwood Retreats). The only mention of Kendra's family is that they're moving out of one of the houses I presume Joe and Kendra own in a month and "everybody is gonna hold them to it."

All Joe really wanted to talk about was getting the business and legal affairs in order, and how much he's been loving the new version of the Bible that he's reading because it's a much easier read than their usual KJV and offers a different perspective.

It's also possible that there may have been health consequences that weren't as apparent until she started going through puberty.

Based on what was released about what was actually done to the victim, nothing that happened would have affected her physical development, only psychological.

When Jim boob said Joe made some terrible decisions, I wonder if he was referring to joe admitting to what he did, as that seems like all JB cares about. Josh is golden to him because he denies everything. Boy is he going to be mad when he learns Joe is reading and enjoying the NIV.

Someone mentioned Kendra is staying with Joy and Austin (that's where Meech confronted that weird Tiktok dude), so that may be why Austin reached out.

Also a lot of those emails seem 'don't kill yourself' coded, at least to me. I'm trying to imagine what I would say to my sibling if this was their situation and Idk how I would handle it, honestly. I'd be so angry.

It's an open secret in the community that JL Duggar (Jim Bob's father) was an unsafe person for children to be around. Amy Duggar King has stated on the record that she and the other female grandchildren were not allowed to be alone with him in the house or the car, and weren't allowed to take a shower or bath in their grandparents' home unless their grandmother was there. Amy is generally regarded as a questionable source; however, as far as I know no one in the family has publicly denied anything she said.

I also believe that the actions of Josh and Joe indicate that they learned this behavior, either by watching their father victimize girls, or because they themselves were also his victims. Jim Bob has been activating my fight or flight since the first time I saw him, back when the Duggars were still a quaint novelty appearing on talk shows, before they got their TLC series. The IBLP/Quiverfull lifestyle is not compatible with a psychologically healthy view of sex. It simply does not appeal to normal men.
