When I first read the subreddit name "AntiWork," I thought that sounded great. I thought I was going to read about sci-fi-esque ideas about how the world could be, how people could live new aristocratic types of lifestyles without being tied to the 9-5, you know, fascinating new ideas. Turns out, it's just a bunch of pretentious socialists and trade unionists who want us all to work, just in a slightly more "fair" or "non-exploitative" way. How fucking lame is that. When I saw some commenter getting downvoted for actually being antiwork, rather than some half-baked socialist, I knew the subreddit was a waste of time.

I wonder if the release of Wall-E killed the whole "post-scarcity playpen world" idea that stuff like Zeitgeist was pushing by showing how dystopian it would be in practice. If that didn't kill it, the old lefties getting completely eclipsed by a Scientology-esque woke ideology probably did. Hard to say that post-scarcity is possible when your side of the aisle was convinced that everyone is so mindfucked by capitalism & the legacy of colonialism that everyone needs a therapist, every organisation needs a diversity consultant, and every society needs a class of censors & domestic spies to root out those traumas & bigotries & prevent them from multiplying. How convenient that after the corpos subverted the Left at OWS a Sisyphian task was made its core mission.

Nah. Its a thing across the board all over. Nobodys building affordable housing and cities are the only places with any economic oppurtunity. Result is more and more people moving to locations where the only spaces available are in luxury condominiums and shit.

It isnt thr city stopping people from building homes, its that the only homes built in a geographically limited space are multi million dollar condos and shit. No money in cheap housing.

Its less about keeping it in a city, and more about the fact that the top leaders in the organization decide where the office is going to be. When you're making senior leadership money, you can afford a nice home in a good place in any city of America. And those sorts of highly paid people want to live in fancy cities with all the amenities they consume. So they pick places that work for them, and some casualties in the workforce from "I'm not moving to LA" are acceptable - after all, its easier to replace a few mid and low level staff than to replace a C level.

Then it starts a cycle of agglomoration - C levels move between organizations as leadership shuffles happen, so now there's a bunch of C levels in the city, so upstart orgs put their office there to make it more appealing to snatch say, that ex-CFO from a fortune 500 company. Totally worth the cost of living to get someone who can help raise billions in tech venture capital. So these leaders naturally gather together, and create a self driving cycle all the way back to the very beginning - the fancy services they consume are forced to follow them, so they're not gonna find the services they want out in bumfuck murrica, they're all in a bugmen hive, following the customer base.

This should also put into perspective just how spectacularly California fucked up with major organizations moving out of it over the pandemic - The wealthiest people would rather give up their life luxuries for a while than stay there any longer (They'll follow eventually, but patience is not their strong suite).

Remote work for office positions is going to start changing this though - The Tech Industry is never going to be able to give it up now that its shown to work for them, and this creates a competitive pressure on all the office support roles to do it as well - a bank might not have a google level programming team, but they need google level HR, and if HR wants to work from home, they gotta compete with google already offering it. The real question is going to be whether workers actually take advantage of this, or if they stay in the hives long-term.

I've had a subreddit that made fun of AHS and the whole reddit culture, and of course the troonies got real mad and shut us down, but I believe that is an accurate portrait of how they see themselves: beautiful powerful ladies fighting this new war from behind a screen.

One of the most accurate portraits is the one where they are degenerate slobs with poor hygiene, autism and have really socialist and communist ideas, even though their ideas borderline (if not go full on) authoritarisn and totalitarian.

The best thing you can do with a reddit mod, or any other tranny for that matter, is laugh at them and encourage suicide or get a job ( for them is the same thing).
