The suburbs sucks, I don't know why people on this site specifically get so butthurt about this obvious fact. I'm guessing it's because you never experienced any significantly different way of life then what you're used to and don't realize just how absolutely fucking terrible it is. Like, again, I can talk shit about people in rural areas all I want, but if you're an outdoorsy type or somebody who just generally hates people it's great. Living in a city is a pain in the ass, but you're also surrounded by opportunities you wouldn't get anywhere else and you're never short of something to do on a Friday night. The suburbs? It's got neither of that, it's just a fucking desert. In fact that's not fair, the ACTUAL desert has some beauty to it if you're into that. Your average suburb is just a huge expanse of sprawl totally lacking in anything resembling shared community life, or even a meaningful private one. Like just consider this, for all the problems with where I live, people are fucking outside. I talk to my neighbors more living in the city then I ever did back home. It's a small thing but it can be hard to miss how important that kind of thing is. Modern suburbs by contrast were built specifically to prevent that. And that's why it's so easy to miss just how fucked up the shit surrounding you is.

I don't know how the world should be, really I just wish people would try to be nicer to each other even if we don't always "get" each other. I figure most people agree with that even if none of us are good at it. That said on reddit I'm seeing a cultural shift where the normies are just getting increasingly pissed at the gender warriors all over the place. Whenever transgendered people come up in a thread on reddit it gets locked within an hour by mods, especially if its a thread that actually gets traction. Reasons because, shocker, most people don't understand what the fuck is going on anymore and are getting annoyed having to dance around this increasingly incoherent bullshit. Part of this is the typical right wing brigading bullshit, but this happens so much and if you read this stuff it's usually so tame that I'm not really sure if that explains all of it.

r/antiwork despite everything was mostly made up of reasonably normal people. Ya know, people who understand that the world is complicated and that you can only create change if you're willing to make some peace with the fact that nothing is ever going to be perfect and a better world is only going to come from baby steps and compromise. And then there's the insane idpol mod team that thinks anything that doesn't put their own neurosis front and center of any issue is inherently bigoted because reasons.
