Honestly, if that workplace was real, they are being nice by simply extending the shifts of tardy employees rather than firing them on the spot. I'd always been taught to be at least 15 minutes early to work, even when I was working retail. The idea of heading to work late and getting mad that you are expected to pick up extra time to compensate just feels wrong to me.
This is either completely fake or of those joke rules that some bosses like to do. Most wagie jobs have a set schedule for staff shifts so there wouldn't be a good place to fit them for make up time if they were late. And if you are still working by the hour for an office gig, then find a new job.
