r/antiwork - Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.

How will society function without jobs?

So are these just angry unemployed people who don't quite qualify, physically or mentally, for a tugboat, and thus want to abolish the concept of work, because they can't/are unwilling to find a job, or what?

Just your usual brand of white suburban communist kids who are offended at the concept of someone telling them to get a job because they've been handed everything all their lives.

This probably stems from either one of two things, or both.

a) Lazy people living unproductive hence unfulfilling lives and thus want to bring down everyone else to their level so we can all be equally miserable.
b) Disgruntled people working jobs they hate who honestly believe pretty much everyone who is wealthy sits around and does nothing and gets free money for doing that.

I'm guessing it's probably the former. Both are good examples of why no matter what, you should do something productive with your life (because it is impossible to be happy when you are unproductive and have nothing to show for your life, life is very unrewarding that way) that you enjoy. If your true passion doesn't make enough to get by, do it on the side, but don't give up on that. Everything rewarding takes sacrifice, but once you finally see the results at the end, it made the work you put in feel really good and it can easily become addictive. It's why exercising feels good, it's why some people are so invested in what they do they actually live at work, etc.

Feeling productive and useful gives life meaning, so it's no surprise these people are completely miserable, because if you asked a single one what they've done with their life or what they have to show for their time, they probably would come up empty-handed and it's surely a huge point of insecurity for them.

I suddenly feel super motivated.

Nah, in the case of having to track and kill deer to eat that isn't really an obligation imposed on you by any person its just a happenstance of your carbon-based being. Juxtapose this with an economic system which has the legal backing of the de-facto authority upon which the consumer is totally and completely dependent for everything they need want or own. How does liberty thrive when you are totally dependent on the economic paradigm and the state that upholds it? People don't grow their own food anymore, or build their own houses, or make their own clothes. They've outsourced it all. Just about the only thing we haven't outsourced is fucking around doing nothing.
Not outsourced, specialized. A certified plumber is going to be able to build/fix plumbing more efficiently and with higher quality than someone who doesn't do it every day. The same way farmers grow food, mechanics fix cars, custodians clean buildings, etc. It is this utilization of specialized labor that has allowed society to produce large surpluses of high value goods and services available to everyone and allow for the pursuit of less absolutely crucial to survival tasks like art, science, and culture. People can then dedicate their lives to, say, the study of interpretive dance because the basics of food clothing and shelter were taken care of by the specialists.

The disconnect here is one common to commies, the Labor Value Theory, where the labor exerted is what gives things value. That isn't the case. It is the demand that gives it value. But they don't want to recognize that. Admitting that one form of labor (one in demand) is more valuable than another would be kicking down one of the pillars of their dumb ideology. This has led these speds to think that every unskilled dipshit's labor is as productive and valuable as the most skilled high-demand tradesman. This has led to the conclusion that only teeny-tiny amounts of labor are required for society to function but the surplus value of the unskilled is being exploited by the capitalists requiring them to work far more than is necessary.

It's the only way for them to explain how their useless asses make less than somebody else. It is the system's fault for stealing the excess value! That's why nobody wants to hire them or pay them very much. It's not that labor sucks. No no. The LVT says it is worth millions! Marx said it so it must be true.

I don't necessarily disagree with the economics of capitalism and modern markets but rather with the long-form consequences for the individual living in such a society as the one we inhabit today in the US. Anything outsourced onto another party creates dependancy. Dependencies suck because it means allowing others to have power over your daily life and ability to provide for yourself. Now granted, Dependencies are inevitable in the increasingly complicated world we live in where entire complexes feeding other complexes are needed to manufacture the high technology of our day. Obviously you can't do everything, but by limiting our reliance on external producers we better enable ourselves to live freely since you aren't as beholden to others to get the things you need or want. So from my perspective, Markets are fine but it does well to limit your reliance on them to the most feasible possibility.

It is my Optimistic hope that mass automation of labor will better enable people to live for themselves and produce for themselves rather than obligating their labor to a collective organization that gives them a portion of what they could earn for themselves if given the opportunity to do so. This probably won't happen but a man can dream.

If you enjoy literally any activity other than cooming and consooming, there’s an occupation that you will enjoy. It may not pay enough to let you buy everything you desire, but that’s how life and societies work. It’s the principle behind the Abrahamic concept of original sin and the curse of man. I’m torn between disgust and fascination.

They want to be babied by the system because they don't realize that behind curtains, the system is not this shadowy conglomeration of rich capitalist pigs but nature itself.

Their autistic world vision could actually work only if they belong to the elite minority which would be supported by the slave-labor of a world of second class-citizens without human rights, and they would probably be OK with it as long as they stay inside their virtue signaling bubble.

...I think I need to become their prophet brb.

Yeah, I don't think these kids actually realize how rewarding work and employment can actually be. Not from a "brainwashed normie" perspective, but from an actual instinctual perspective, like how we actually evolved to forage and gather and enjoy doing it. That's kind of how you know none of them have even begun to work, and why I think people are giving them too much credit in saying that some of them do work, they just work lousy jobs. I think even having a fucking burgerflipper job would make you feel at least a little invigorated compared to sleeping all day and /pol/posting all night. At least then you feel important, feel needed.

I'll give you anything a majority of these kids have self-diagnosed "depression" from having no hobbies, doing no constructive work (not even chores) and browsing reddit/twitter all day.

This subreddit clearly has lots of truly high IQ motherfuckers up in here.
downsize those images, those are yuuugggee
I have an intense dislike for these people. They claim benefits "just because lmao", not because they're actually disabled and can't work or they recently lost their job.
Skirting by, seeing no higher purpose to life (which, in my opinion, is having a family and children to invest in), and just being a general waste.
