Bit of an overstatement to relate selfishness with not wanting kids.
Honestly the least selfish thing many could do would be to resist from spreading their genetics
Sorry, I was talking about why teens and young adults say that they never want children. When you were in high school, and a teacher, or whoever, talked about you one day having kids, what was your thought? 'I'm never having kids!' I would guess?
That is totally different from realizing that you wouldn't be a good parent, could pass on diseases, and so on. (I will say that if it's just your genes you worry about, consider adoption.) I feel like those are valid and unselfish reasons.
