There's no talk about this movie save for a mention about the evil white man trope in the Tvtropes thread, so I feel the need to make a rambling ass thread about it because holy fucking shit this movie is incredible. I just got done with watching it with a friend on fucking netflix and it was a god damn masterpiece. the damn thing is 3 hours long but it feels longer, and not in a bad way. You know how you sometimes have really cool dreams that span several days but then you wake up and it's been only 5 or 7 hours? That's the kind of "feels longer" time distortion I'm talking about here. I am not shitting you when I say that not one of those 3 hours is wasted, this thing better pacing and plot buildup delivery than a majority of TV shows and movies out there right now shit's DENSE with detail. We went into this completely blind and came out the other end realizing we haven't seen an action movie of this quality come out in WELL over a decade. The action gets increasingly over the top but in ways that aren't the shitty kind that wouldnt make sense. The soundtrack is fucking incredible, filled with aggressive scatting and choirs singing about the characters. It's also got one of those things at the end plays sometimes do where basically everyone's on a stage dancing singing about how fucking much they love living in india untied to the actual plot. The whole movie follows a structure similar to a stageplay, so it's pretty much one of those cases the "random dance number" type of ending is fucking earned and a breath of relief after all the heavy shit that goes down in the final act.

So, the general gist of the plot is it's set during the british occupation of india. there's 2 really fucking strong guys, one working for the bri'ish military that keeps getting fucked out of a promotion because nepotism, and the other working to save his family from some fucking racist ass child traffiking scumfucks in the corrupt as hell british occupier ranks. They meet up due to some wild ass circumstance and then shit just keeps building up from there and does not fucking stop going. I'd explain more but I really don't want to make this fucking OP even longer of a text heap.

One of the fucking best parts during my time watching this shit with my friend was when my friend joked about them combining into a gurren-lagann esque mech and then like an hour later during the prison break scene they literally did the fucking human equivalent of that with the guy who's legs were fucking wounded. it's one of the most absurdly badass yet beautiful fucking things i've seen happen in a movie.

Finally another RRRbro, it's a very great film & probably the best theater experience I had the whole year. My Indian homie felt the same until he saw a film next month called KGF 2 (It's on Amazon, meaning you can hail the 7seas for HD) & said it nearly surpassed his RRR experience. I saw both 1st & 2nd later & they are pretty damn kino.

But seriously, this film doesn't feel too long for being 3hrs long. Some films rarely have that effect. Also, there's some kinography that should feel goofy, but feels really awesome

Also, 4chan (yes there have been more than 10+ threads on RRR on /tv/, I archived them personally) may have turned me into a Naatufag

I would also recommend the Director's previous works, specially Baahubali (this was actually mentioned on Farms before, on the SW Griefing Thread. It was about how the sequels should take some lessons from it, specially about Rey). You'd find some similar kinography in both films

An example from the 1st film:

An example from the 2nd film:

There are so many reviews by foreigners it's almost jarring. It had a sudden boom here. Even the last film the director did had a boom too, but nothing on this level.

Chris Gore loved it:

This guy is a Brit himself BTW:

Watched it recently. It was a little long but it was really good.
It was typical Indian movie but in a good way. The characters were fun and even could push a little emotional scenes at times. The story was great.
The two main leads had great chemistry together and had this strong non-biological brothership to them.
The British actors seem to went into this movie knowing full well what kind of characters they were going to play as and went full on balls to the walls on being the evil britbong colonialist they played as. It was great.
The action scenes was over the top but felt weirdly grounded too. It's hard to explain but they work to a quality better then a lot of movies to have came out in a long time.
The music was good as well as the cinematography.
Highly recommended film to watch on a Friday night.

Which dude & which one?
Blood Beardo in the thumbnail
I forget the movie's name, but iirc it was a two parter, some semi-fantastic historic-ish epic type thing
at one point he climbs that waterfall or something
edit- I dug up the name "Baahubali", apparently a different guy

Necro'ing the thread because I found this funny:

Kojima & some others talking about it somewhat makes sense. But what the fuck? The only reason I can think of is that she's somewhat friends with Sunny Leone (unrelated to the film).

I was very disappointed. 3 hours and no reference to a Disney movie? Two bromance characters and not one of them is saying no-homo? Soundtrack that doesn't have a single overused 80's song? Scenes that take themselves seriously without constantly winking and smiling to the audience?

Cynicism aside, it's pretty damn perfect and is basically two giga chads fucking up the British. The cgi is a bit goofy, and it seems like all the scenes were recorded without voice only to be dubbed later, which is very distracting when you realize there is never any background noise, especially in places like the market. Really my only issue is that the main bad guy deserved some Armstrong esque boss fight, especially after the ridiculous 360 no scope stunt an hour earlier.

Highly recommended.

The cgi wasn't bad for me because they did that thing movies used to do where they clearly work it into the scenery instead of just working everything in the scenery retroactively to fit the cgi. Also it's kind of hard to film a bullet or arrow in motion so that's also understandable.
In terms of the soundtrack, the fucking shit with the aggressive scatting during the prison workout scene and some other intense scenes is somehow fucking perfect despite how goofy it sounds on paper.

The bullet/arrows were alright. It's more the goofy cgi animals, especially with the starting disclaimer that no animals were harmed.

The animals could be due to coof fucking over the crew, cause it's shown to be planned for 4 years in making, & shown a lot with things like physical rigs & even a Pre-Viz:

Also, TBF to the film, do you think you can make an animal do things shown in the film? I'm surprised they even bothered with physical rigs instead of going full Marvel.

As for the disclaimers, they're apparently a normal thing to show. It's even worse with alcohol, just showing a static shot of a bottle alone is worth a disclaimer. Even the biggest Indian film of this year isn't safe from it.

I think some stuff lacks those on the international releases.
Forget what it was but some onlines we were watching a fairly new movie and the smoking warning didn't pop up
Guy said he got it off a USA service

In another movie by the same director, Baahubali, they'd flash a disclaimer on screen anytime there was a CGI animal in frame. That one had them switching from real animals to CGI between shots. The best guess that my friends and I made while watching it is that it was because of religious reasons since it seemed like the CGI was being used anytime something even remotely violent was being done to an animal instead of for things that a real animal couldn't reasonably do. It's also a hilarious disclaimer in retrospect since the quality of the animal CGI in that movie was far, far, worse than in RRR.
