Brendan Fraiser winning an Oscar was good too.
And it’s crazy how much attention RRR ended up getting.
I didn't really see much stuff with Brendan (George of the Jungle is his best film to this day), but I do like him, so I guess there's another good thing.
It's surprising, but at least it's something good that earned it's attention. Imagine something like Wakanda Forever, The Woman King, or some other pozzed shit getting this attention. Hell, Twitter Blacks, alongside Rihanna & MCU's stans & shills dilating about just the song winning.
I watched the movie recently, and while I did really enjoy it, I feel it’s been just a bit too hyped by the Internet. I don’t really have time to go into detail on that but, in short, I think the version of the film I had built in my head by what I’ve heard about the movie online didn’t exactly live up to the movie itself, it’s a phenomenon I’d like to call “the phantom menace effect” (although, duh, of course the movie I had built in my head isn’t going to live up to the reality, it’s something that was uniquely tailored to me)
That being said the movie is pretty strong, aside from somewhat obnoxious “WHITE MAN BAD” shit (which I can somewhat forgive considering it’s a foreign movie), and a few grammatical things that tickled my autism (“the sun never sets on the english empire!” Yeah Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland would like a word with you).
It's not surprising everyone has a different reaction. IIRC, some guy in the in the unpopular movie opinions thread disliked it too.
That said, about "White Man Bad" thing, you need to realise this is not Hollywood with it's "Wypipo Bad" shit, where the unspoken truth is that being White is a disease to these people & America is now living in a Black Supremacy (Hell, just search the Tems Oscars outfit for a recent example) due to one guy dying from Fentanyl & cop incompetence leading to ghetto hood nigger culture suddenly being appropriated.
RRR has colonialist Brits, these fucks (or as I see on 4chan "benchod basterd bitch sirs") were considered worse than Nazis there, & understandably so too because the film downplays how much of a cunt they were in actual British rule on India to a cartoon Moustache Twirling Villain levels (I recommend the film Sardar Udham for a grounded, realistic take on it).
Despite that, the Brits in this film actually
DO the things your usual racism card using Black would say happened to them here. They're literally stealing children, commiting human slavery, treating the countrymen like cattle, public tortures & lynchings, kicking pregnant women in the tummy etc.. That's just shit that happened in the film alone, that kind of shit & worse is actually reported in IRL history so it's not surprising either.
So no wonder they hate Brits, who just happened to be White (but not American White). Why won't they when they have all the reason to go "Whiteys Bad" in their scenario.
TL;DR - The film isn't anti-white, it's Anti-British.
I do admit that "English Empire" thing is weird, but I do have a theory that it's because the Britoids here are such smug cunts, they just consider themselves to be all of the English, kinda like a Master Race thing. This doesn't surprise me, cause they do actually think that way, there's a very good reason we have films like Braveheart & The Patriot.
