Way back when, like prior to 2011-12, most people at SRS were shitposters who were low key left wing / liked making neckbeards mad just by reposting their own words. It was hilarious: all you had to do was point out things people said, and they lost. Their. SHIT. Like an entire board full of lolcows.I wonder how many people on SRS are serious SJWs and how many are just massive shitposters.
The people who started SRS were goons, and the same wave of virulent SJW mods that afflicted SomethingAwful also modded SRS. One day it was fine to make jokes, and then there started to be rules about the jokes, and then people started self policing the jokes, until there was no more funny to be had. The rules about the jokes weren't to keep things fresh. I remember the day we weren't supposed to joke about Hitler any more, or use the phrases "literally hitler" or "lhitlerally" any more to make fun of people. It came suddenly. It wasn't because the joke was overused (which it was, and would have made sense to crack down on); it was because... I think because it minimizes the effects of the holocaust or something? I didn't even understand, but Hitler jokes were now bad, and anyone who made them should feel bad, and no one should question bans being handed out for certain jokes. And this just went on and on for different topics.
So nothing was fun anymore, and the neckbeards who impotently raged at SRS for no reason started having valid points, because the SRS mods started behaving like re.tards instead of being funny. They became what they were originally accused of: free speech enemies with a virulent agenda.
We just wanted to make jokes
