I'd say that's valid criticism. From what I've heard so far, it sounds like Mosley and Mann are the main driving forces behind Britain's authoritarianism, and once they're gone, Britain will become less authoritarian. This is just what I've heard though. I'd need to wait until the update releases or ask the devs to be sure. The most likely path will be Mann's faction, the Federationists, though I'm not sure what that government would be like. Apparently, the blessed path, in which Clemet Atlee takes power, is also the rarest, so take that as you will. I feel you should also be more open minded though. Socialism in Russia and socialism in Western Europe could have developed differently, especially without Moscow's influence. The Bolsheviks were from the start and a secret terrorist group with ideas about how they had to lead the revolution. They worked very hard to purge socialists in parties and organizations around the world who didn't agree with them. In the French civil war, there was no single party to lead the revolution. A group like the Bolsheviks couldn't dominate. Instead, unions and socialist political parties cooperated to win the war, very different from the situation in Russia where the Bolsheviks fought against virtually everyone else, and labour unions weren't strong. It's hard for a single party state to arise when there is no single party. I should also mention that France, while democratic, is described as being bloated, inefficient, and unable to get anything done, not exactly a paradise.
