Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

For developers that claim to hate authoritarianism and tankies, they seem to be taking the Stalin route and just purging everything and everyone they can.

I'd recommend the Kaiserredux mod expansion if you dislike modern Kaiserreich.

It's a unification of a bunch of different submods that share the goal of having fun with the setting of Kaiserreich as opposed to modern KR's realism over fun mentality. They've even readded some of the old stuff that got taken out of the base mod in the name of realism.

As for TNO it's massively overrated mod and after the time i spent browsing it's subreddit around the time of its release I'm not at all suprised by this kind of drama.

Thanks, I tried Kaiserredux months ago when the mod was still brand new and while the mod wasnt really stable, it was really fun and i tried multiple games with it. Their Napoleon path for National France really made up for my disappointment with the Ottoman and French rework.

Public chats were mostly generic troonery + telling underage people how correct it was to cut your dick off, the usual in that kind of community. The main NSFW chat had something like ten iterations because the troons just absolutely could not keep it in their pants. Chat would frequently (once every 1-3 weeks) devolve into open ERP or something along those lines, usually between Freddy and another troon who went by a number of names but the one I remember is Amber. These were predictably disgusting, and Freddy seemed to realize it wasn't a good look as he'd delete the chat and make a new iteration of the NSFW general every time it happened, a rare bit of foresight in realizing it probably wasn't a good idea to publicly ERP in a chat with 20-30+ people (or it would've been if he didn't keep doing it and then deleting it over and over and over). Pacifica liked to sub in these, and it was extremely creepy and very humiliating stuff. Potential successor Valrin also participated in this server, including in the internet fucking, double-teaming another member as a dom with the aforementioned amber. He liked talking a lot about how much sex he had and all his bisexual sex experiences in great detail.

I unfortunately never took any screenshots, the only one I do have was one that was taken by someone understandably disgusted and shared around a long while back, the names were censored but because I remember this particular moment and the context is easy to decipher anyways I have the people involved labeled. This moment was absolutely not unusual for this server, moments comparable or much worse than it happened pretty often.

I met Freddy from other place as well, ironically enough was accused to be a cripto-fascist by other trannies because one time he said how wanted to work as a fed lol

Of course you can talk about other mods. It's just that a lot of content has been focused on TNO because that's where a lot of the luls have been to our understanding. As well as the massive drama from the dox and developer leaks. If you have anything to add about other HOI shit it's very very welcome.

This is a thread about the general modding community for Hearts of Iron 4. It's just that TNO AKA The New Order: Last Days of Europe, a Nazi victory mod is the center of attention because of the sheer level of drama over its 7 year multi-game development cycle brought about by platform change from Victoria 2 to HOI 4. It's former and current lead dev being extremely demanding and controlling. As well as its intent as a political statement, both about fascism and America's actions during the Cold War. TNO is considered by the community at large to be the flagship mod. This is due to its high amounts of writing and large focus trees with an extremely large narrative universe. Its main premise beyond Nazis win is a three-way WW2 between America, Japan, and German. With the remaining Russian state reduced to various warlords of differing ideologies and end goals post-reunification of Russia.

The others on the scene are Kasierreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg, a mod with multiple iterations of multiple HoI games about a German victory of WW1. Originally meant to be very silly and full of fun what-ifs? Its content is being cut down by its new devs to comply with realism. This was the old flagship mod. Road to 56 reworks content and, overhauls and revamps the focus trees of all countries and expands them to have content to the year 1956. Millennium Dawn is a union of mods that started as attempts to recreate the modern era and beyond. I believe 1965 and stretches to 2035. Old World Blues is an overhaul that recreates the Fallout world through the scale and gameplay of HOI. Equestria at War is a total conversion of HOI 4 into the My Little Pony universe.

The runner-ups mods are Thousand Week Reich is another alt history if the Nazis won WW2 mod. Fuhrerreich: Legacy of The Great War is a mod that adds alt history options to a post WW1 world where fictional Adam Dressler becomes Fuhrer of Germany in Hitler's stead. Unification Wars is a mod that takes place during the Unification Wars of Terra in the prelude to the Warhammer 40k (and 30k) universe. I also believe there's another mod that intends to start off in the 1300s with several hundred following years of content.

EDIT: I was reminded by Oz's reply about the existence of Red Flood, not sure what it's about. Kasierdux which is a offshoot of Kasierreich meant to address the issues of the new development path by readding old content and adding more fun stuff. There are also two different redux mods for TNO in the works. One by the former TNO:Redux team and one by the Russian TNO community.

I personally really enjoy OWB and Kaiserredux (Redux mod of Kaiserreich). Equestria at War I've tried but not my cup of tea content wise, though it's definitely amazingly put together. Red Flood also looks to be another big mod, and I'm sure there's more than a few other mods that're coming soon.

So who knows what the future holds for HOI4 modding? Maybe this is our Titanic moment, to take lessons from and learn how to do better. (Ditto with Fallout: the Frontier)
