Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

I really just don't care about TNO anymore. What's the point in replaying it even? Just to watch Germany go down the same two paths or America elect either a dem or a republican, or to play as some irrelevant shithole that only has three years of content? With how great TFR has been for first release and how quickly it seems they'll have their first update it's safe to say that TNO is dead and all that it has left to do is slowly fall into irrelevance. Who knows, maybe Paradox will eventually release a Cold War game and TNO can finally have its day.

I'm really curious to see how much content they have working right now.

The monkey paw curls. PDX releases a TNO game with less content then vic3 and 500000 dlcs.

Also the game needs an amd threadripper to run, just to filter all the POOR who CAN'T understand TNO's DEEP POLITICAL COMMENTARY.

If current trends continue, TNO will have no actual content by 2028, it’ll just be skeleton content.
I remember seeing a video where it joked that TNO would just become another Cold War mod because an Axis victory would be unrealistic.

Ah Paracox, the worst case of DLC fever outside of EA.

It's silly that the US isn't really interested in Britain in either old or new tno. Logically speaking, an ofn aligned England/UK would be a massive coup against Germany. It'd be Cuba or Best Korea on steroids.
Or Airstrip One.

The real DEEP POLITICAL COMMENTARY of TNO is the devs making it into the Benjamin Button of HOI4 mods.

It's a shame that I actually unironically miss the Panzer era. Lolcow content and game content were both 50/50 even split between being funny (lolcow side) and kinda interesting (game itself) but nowadays TrooNO is just boooooring. We'll never reach the height of Pacifica simping over Suslov and 129 Powerline Road, Freedom Pennsylvania.

PDX game modders once again showing they are fucking retarded. Who do you think is going to handle all those donations? The same commie government that plunged the island into darkness because they depend on other commies, Venezuela, for their fuel supplies, these last commies can't even produce enough fuel for local demand.

Speaking of Cuba, old TNO has the Bay of Pigs as its own state. In fact, Cuba as a whole has way too many states to be reasonable

Ireland is also a pretty big offender

And the less said of the Levant, the better

I'm guessing there was some wacky civil war content coded/planned (most likely planned), but do we really need this many?
It's all the more funny when you look at Central America, where most countries are 1 state, and SA, where most countries are between 2-4 states. Latin America cannot stop getting shafted in hoi4.

does anything different happen if you let CHAZ be until the civil war starts?

TBH I like that it has lots of states. Its not a bad base. Be it for civil wars, just longer invasions, or more building slots. Its one thing I won't fault them for too much. Are these states still in modern and current TNO?

There isn't that many states in Ireland anymore. Can't tell you about Cuba but the Middle East probably has an amount that's closer to it as there's like half a dozen tags that can pop up who are all part of the levantine union

Not really? For the first two the number of provinces would matter more than the states. As for the last point, you could simply increase the state level, which would be the easiest solution, or you could increase the number of hard coded slots, or you could increase factory cost and output so that individual factories are more valuable.

In any case, I don't actually disagree with you at all, in theory. My issue is that in practice, more states and provinces means worse performance. Granted, this probably isn't the most resource consuming part of TNO, but it still twists my knickers. I once had a potato laptop which could run every other hoi4 mod just fine, but TNO was completely unplayable. It was to the point where the game took an hour to load, it ran at 10fps and the date wouldn't move past Jan 1st. All in all though it's a non issue, just wanted to whinge a smidge.

Anyway I have a few optimization fixes. I'm turning Australia into one big province and merging it with Alaska. Africa will now be split into two tags, RK North Africa led by Goebbels, and South Africa, led by Mandela. In keeping with TNO tradition, North Africa will be bombarded by events about how much of a bad little nazi you are while South Africa just gets a focus tree which increases its gdp growth to 50% annually. There will still be an African war, but it's solely through an event chain that South Africa is hard coded to win. Next dev diary will be on Spain and Portugal. The Iberian Union is not realistic, and was removed. Portugal won't have any content while Franco gets 2 years. Thank you for reading and buy my merch.

We're never gonna get Winter/Spring 2021 back bros...

I agree %100. Since TFR came out it's been "TNO who ?". I've given up hope a long time ago but now I feel like we can leave TNO behind and focus on the good mods that are active today. Without some drastic change in mindset it seems like TNO's fate will be that of Red World, once one of the major mods now irrelevant and barely kept alive by Chinese and Russian submods.

speaking of obscure scenarios, what happens if the endgame international coalition defeats the AWD?
You can get a revolt during the Aryan War if your suspicion becomes high enough. I guess that what they'll do is to just replace annex AWD and give the territory to that tag

Got high hopes for Red Dusk's next update, apparently the US will be getting quite a lot of content from what this developer claims, still curious to see what stuff UK will be getting, they did a community poll talking about the community's opinion on "Secret paths" similar to that of TFR, the option "yes" got the most votes, so who knows what they will have in store for us.
