If Steam is having "Connectivity issues," or otherwise won't work, you can still get mods to work by going into the game folder and opening "launcher-settings.json" in notepad and changing line 3 from " "distPlatform": "steam", " to " "distPlatform": "pdx", " and then running dowser.exe, which will install and open the launcher from which you'll be able to enable mods placed in the "C: \Users\%USER%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\mod" folder. It will want to connect to steam to ensure you have ownership of your DLC, so don't interfere with it's connection using a firewall.
Once you've enabled the mods in the launcher, you no longer have to open the launcher for the loaded mods to work, you only have to do that if you want to change your mods. So if the Paradox Launcher also has issues, you'll still be able to play with your mods.

Fair enough, but that was ages ago, and I was in the team for, like, a month before another purge happened and I got fucked. Well, I promised earlier that I would tease a little more info about Pacifica, but this week has been hectic, both for me and the thread. So here we go.

1. They admitted to me once that they would fuck themselves in the past.
2. When I talked somewhat dismissively about Pacifica in another Discord server, they brought up a screenshot of what I had said, and accused me of being 'a bad friend'. Likely a little bit of their insecurities popping up that if one of their 'friends' critiques them, even slightly, they'd freak.
3. Pacifica took classes or majored on Soviet history, which explains, at least a little, why they were put in charge of the Russian development. Maybe Panzer thought a degree constituted better development of the region than the native Russians would, maybe something else.

There is more to talk about, but as I'm not keen or terribly willing on overlooking my talks with a mentally unstable groomer, I can't and won't do so now.
And as a word of advice to whoever Pacifica assigns to 'monitoring' this thread: Get a life. Throw your computer out a window. Take a walk, lift some weights, read a book, make friends, etc. Same applies to Pacifica.

I maintain both TNO death spiral and The Frontier turning out to be Hunt Down The Freeman 2 are rare events. Mod communities usually are just minor spergouts, not fucking reenactments of their mod’s own succession crisis.

The issue comes down to lack of management, or in other words, a tard wrangler. Someone who could delineate tasks, enforce the rules, and push any degeneracy outside of the modding community. With TNO and The Frontier, they should have set a grand timeline of steps they needed to take and in what order to take them. Outline the scope of the project, generate the basic structure of story/gameplay, and set up the deadlines of certain steps. Another thing would be to mandate a period of time in which people can work on the project. I presume that a lot of these people are always online and so put in more than the average work day's hours into the project. On top of them being involved in moderating social media and it's no wonder people burn out. Mandating that modders can only work on the mod for a few hours a day or every several days will keep them from suffering burn out and keep them from overly engaging with the mod's community, which is probably one of the reasons for why they start being open about their perversions on discord.

Well then, this thread is quite a juicy one so I might as well stop lurking. Does anyone know what Pacifica's political ideology is exactly? They have purposefully kept it very vague but they have stated they're some sort of leftie/marxist. I remember that from the leaked dev chats they mentioned they toned down their CNT-FAI spam in order for people to not think he's AnCom or something along those lines. I also remember that they have a hardon for Russian Bolshevik Feminist turned Stalinist bootlicker Alexandra Kollontai, whose beliefs feature heavily in Bukharina's Komi (one of the paths they created). On top of all that you also have their excessive fantroonism for Suslov and Zhdanov and their mentioning of Bukharina, Suslov, Dengist Yagoda and someone else I don't remember being their favorite Russian paths. So with all that considered, what unique flavor of pinko marxist/crypto-leninist are they?
