It's even funnier because that's pretty much Poland's whole plot in the game. The evil natzee Hans Frank kept lying about the germanization rate of Poland, so when shit hits the fan the rebellion is worse than they imagined. Pacific Empire, nathan dume and 'merica has some mistake decisions that can make you bumrush. So yes, it's possible to lose, especially if you cannot secure enough thunder warrior material.
