racing games - no not racist games you fucking ni

I've never played Payback, but Rivals was just kind of okay for me. I'm guessing that's how Unbound is? Just okay?
Yes. Just an average, forgettable, boring racing game with no style or substance, and would only have fun with it for the first 30-40 minutes before giving up and end up playing something else. You might as well pick up other NFS games between the late-90s through early-2010s (NFS peaked during the early-to-mid-2000s).

That's a shame because the car customization in that game looked kind of cool. I kind of missed that from Most Wanted and Underground.

The Crew 1 has been de-listed from Steam, and the game's servers will be shut down on March 31, 2024.

And another game falls victim to the curse of "always online", since it won't be playable once the servers are shut off.

Ubisoft had a 30th anniversary years ago and one of the games they gave away was The Crew. Its an okay game, I would play it sometimes as a driving simulator.

Was The Crew always multiplayer? Do pirated games still work?

(I remember discussing with @Ughubughughughughughghlug a while back that I really liked the concept of The Crew and appeared to be what I wanted video games of the future to be like, but the more I learned about it the less interested I got).

The Crew games have always being Always-Online games. TC1 does appear to have code in the game to play it offline, but it is not accessible by normal means.

So there is a chance that modders may be able to make the game playable offline.

Also, EA laid-off an undisclosed number of employees from Codemasters, which makes the F1 and WRC games, earlier this month.

I don't remember what we talked about, but I actually happened to uninstall The Crew a few days ago. I was in it for the road tripping, but that map just wasn't up to snuff. It maybe could have been better if it had been cartoony in style, but the world was just too condensed, too small, too lifeless (even in The Crew 1), and too devoid of useful information. The racing itself was just there, nothing to even think about, and they knew that when they marketed the game entirely around its map.

Ubisoft somehow managed to add TOWERS in a racing game.

Turn 10 posted this statement, in regards to the current state of FM2023, in the usual "we're sorry that we released an unfinished game", that has become more and more common with games. It comes off as being so pathetic, that it could possibly make Kaz's statement of "we want players to own lots of cars without needing to grind", during the criticisms of GT7's lack of content on launch, sound better. Heck, it somehow can make EA's "BRUTAL EXPECTATIONS", "Pride and Accomplishment", and "This is what makes The Sims SpEcIaL", sound more genuine.

Kazunori Yamauchi revealed a teaser for the three new cars coming to GT7 in next week's update:

It looks like the Suzuki Jimny, and both the revealed Genesis and BULGARI VGTs.

And in Forza Horizon, Chinese automaker SAIC, the current owners of the MG brand, revealed this teaser of their cars that are coming to FH5:

The 1924 and 2024 in the Wheelspin is a reference to the founding year of MG (1924), and 2024 being the 100th anniversary.

An announcement on Chinese social media also revealed that a Chinese car pack will be added to FH5 in the next update:

In The Crew, a YouTuber plans to file a lawsuit against Ubisoft, for the upcoming shutdown of The Crew 1. I'm pretty sure that the ToS states that Ubisoft can't be sued for this specific reason, and even if that's not the case, expect the case to be thrown out almost immediately.

TOSs/EULAs aren't really legally binding contracts in the US so just because a TOS says you can't sue a company for literally stealing a game from paying customers, it doesn't mean you can't sue them.

News for simracing sweats:

ACC will get the GT2 pack DLC on the 24th. Contains all 2023 GT2 Series cars and the brand new Porsche 935 GT2 (probably except the Brabham, it has not been revealed to this date)

Leaks have also indicated that Red Bull Ring (?) will be included in the DLC pack, or an upcoming update

The iRacing Daytona 24 has ended a few hours ago and brought us a few feats of depravity, one example below from Basic Ollie

Not to be THAT guy, but when you buy an online only title, it should go without saying that you'd eventually lose access to that title once its servers are sunsetted. I'm sure there's something in their TOS that describes this predicament. I'm not trying to defend Ubisoft. Why make an title online only, even for campaign? Need for Speed 2015 did the same thing. I don't believe this lawsuit will go anywhere unless there ARE laws to prevent future titles from being inaccessible after they pull the plug.

Did anyone actually care about the Crew? I found it a mediocre experience, though I lean toward the sim end of things when feeling racist.

It looked fun enough to make me want to play it someday.
Well, that day will never come unless it's somehow reverse engineered and playable offline. No game should be downright killed, no matter how horrid or cancerous it is they all deserve to be preserved for future generations unless they have literal malware or something within them. You don't burn books just because they're shitty or overrated
