I think perhaps one of the limiting factors of the "Ill just take what you've stored when the time comes" strategy is that, in a time of strife there is likely only a limited window when even 8 people will be able to outmatch whatever forms to replace police, and country people tend to already be slightly more on edge and prepared than gormless city folk. Also the risk of being caught by a less gay society than the one we have today, is that punishment is probably going to be a great deal more unpleasant.

But, if you're gonna starve anyway, might as well have some fun first, go out in a blaze of glory.

The only ethnic divides likely to happen in a Yugoslavia disentegration scenario are Black, Mexican, or "The Rest." The urban component of that first group start dying en masse every time the lights go out, so I wouldn't hold out much hope for them when the lights go out for a year or more.

They'll also be the most frequent "raiders," which is another reason their population would crash.

Where I am I am certain we could gather together even more white people than that to have a classic lynching. I agree though that ethnic conflict is in the future for North Americans.
