The first season was overall enjoyable, despite some unfortunate moments
But the second season has shown several red flags already, especially in the episode commentaries.
I fear the Ridley Scott curse is alive and well. I hope it isn't, but I fear it is. I do appreciate that they're sticking to their guns by making the atheists even more reprehensible than the Mythraics, that's got to be activating some almonds out there.
like the robots deciding not to tell anyone about the Neaderthals, and the "They're not evolving, they're de-evolving" line
But the second season has shown several red flags already, especially in the episode commentaries.
Explaining away the voices and visions in the first season as "a signal" really takes away from the mysteriousness of the setting, even though it was obvious something technological was going on because it fixated on the necromancer, and the "People feel joy around Marcus because he has radioactive necromancer eyes inside him" and "The oceans are acidic because they pass through the planetary core" stuff in the commentaries does not inspire any confidence in the quality of the writing yet to come this season.
