Chris does not have the capacity to be curious about anything that isn’t one of his obsessions. His “sweetheart” came from a country he’d never heard of, and it never once occurred to him to google it.

Chris is uninformed, immensely naive and very trusting, especially when he is promised something he wants, this makes him the perfect mark in many ways. Now he is far more paranoid of letting trolls in, to the point where he has probably closed many genuine life improvement opportunities that came to him.

This makes the "in" very difficult to achieve, but he is still the same gullible idiot underneath all that paranoia, I would not be surprised to see this troll turn out to be someone who was within his circle of trust, same as Jessica.

Yeah, I think they've figured there's not much they can do to help him if he has his mind set on something. Like, one of them became concerned after seeing him begging and offered realistic advice on how to get a job, and Chris shit on it by writing an angry rant about why he didn't want to work. Another tried to discourage him from doing one of his reaction videos a while back, but he didn't listen. When weird shit like Nazi CWCville or Chris being possessed by a vidya goddess shows up in their Facebook timelines, they probably glance at it, think Chris is goofing off, shrug and move on.

Why would he need to google anything? If I asked someone for a name for a town, and they said "uhh... Dipsville", at most, you'd say "huh, why Dipsville", they can say "idk, I made it up" and that'd settle it right there.
