The way I see it Null was more like a big brother, he tried to protect him and find a way for him to have a financially secure future without enabling his self-destructive mentality. Of course, Chris being Chris, he just had to fuck it up.

Null was always a sort of (or at least used to be) a softie when it comes to Chris, he also somewhat felt a some kind of a moral obligation to protect Chris from tardlet weens/malicious individuals or preventing him from furthering to fucking his life up even more than it already was after the whole Idea Guys fiasco.

Chris being Chris of course, viewed his attempts at being sympathetic as a some kind of a genuine gesture of friendship to him, which kind of infuriates Null sometimes when he tries to help/guide him, like that one time when Chris tried to roleplay with him and got upset at Null not playing with his Bullshit or referring him as Chris instead of Magichan.

They walked past me and went into the Customer Support department and I got a short video of their backs. I also managed to catch them driving out and followed for a short way. They were in an older silver sedan with a license plate that said "SON1CHU" and tried to take a video but it didnt focus on the car. You can still sort of make out the plate in the frame below if you squint hard enough.
