With Chris it's hard to know because it could be just a more child-like thing, as you mention; or making stuff up for attention since he's been deprived of human interaction most of his life; or even a side-effect of hormones or psych meds - but the whole thing is just becoming too similar to real schizophrenia to rule it out as a possibility and simplest explanation.

Also, for many years now people have been raising the schizophrenia flag and although I never seen it before, I can clearly see it now. I am fine admitting that some people may have figured this one out way before I did. The fact this idea has always popped up now and again throughout the years puts even more weight on it being a credible theory.

I wasn't being all inclusive. I wasn't saying that schizophrenia always involves hallucinations, but that it's an example of the type of extreme symptoms you'd see.

Chris has always been desperately trying to return to a childish world of his own imagination from the day he started to write Sonichu. The self-insertion into a world of someone's imagination is a trait almost every kid has, it's the same thing as an 8 year old wanting to be a Jedi and travel across the galaxy, having fun adventures, and due to his autism and poor parental guidance, Chris has never been able to mentally become an adult, he quite literally is a manchild. He will always try to escape to this childish imagination land because it's his only out, he doesn't have the capacity to deal with the problems in his life like an adult his age would. The reason it's gotten so severe over these past couple of years is the compounding stress in his life, Bob died, the house burned down, trolls stepped up their game in finding more extreme ways to fuck with him, not having any money to pay mortgage, Barb's deteriorating health, etc. instead of being able to look at these problems and try to work on solutions to fix them, he simply can't handle that pressure and retreats to the only place he knows he won't have to worry about anything, where he is in control and can do or be whatever he wants.

Like, for example, schizos have problems holding conversations. Or sitting still. Or really just functioning normally at all, because they've got thought disturbances that don't come from their inner monologue. That's incredibly disturbing to people and that's why their lives suck so much.

Chris doesn't experience anything like that. He's fucking around and is incredibly stupid. He could absolutely face reality if he wanted to. He just doesn't want to.

It's a matter of willpower, not a mental disorder that would require treatment.

But all psychiatry has to rely on external clues, of course. It's inherent to the job. It's certainly possible that your best friend is schizo and just does a fantastic job of hiding the symptoms. But it's not likely.

My understanding is that Marvin is in a privileged position to know more about Chris than most of us randos here. I respect his opinion, being in that position but I also have my own opinion as someone on the outside and just looking at Chris through his public/online behavior and nothing else. Like, I believe that he is merely a fucking idiot playing pretend but those symptoms are (afaik) the most common ones to be suppressed by medication while the delusions tend to be more difficult to handle.

However, he lives in a world literally without consequences. That's why Chris has these beliefs.

Every time Chris fucks around, he experiences no pushback and no consequences. It's really only natural that his mind would wander and he'd start thinking about the limits of his power. He's also completely retarded, so that doesn't help things.

The main reason why reality doesn't push back on him is because Chris is not a bold man. He basically like Ralph Wiggum. Normally if you really believed you were omnipotent, you'd be grabbing titties and stealing shit from the store. But Chris doesn't have those inclinations. So basically, this is mostly self inflicted in combination with autism. Then the only person who could fix it is himself, and without any motivation to do so, it's not gonna happen.

I find it extremely optimistic that you think he just needs a little push from reality to shape up, and that you keep saying there's absolutely nothing wrong with his brain. What about burning down his own home for a little push and he not only not shaping up but becoming several times more unhinged in recent years, as others have pointed out here?

He's also been summoned to court several times and is currently in some sort of psychiatric support program mandated by the government (as is my understanding) and none of those had any positive effect in his steady decline in mental health.
