Does anyone know how much money Chris has actually made from selling his original stuff on eBay?

What the arse is a chickenpox party? Doesn't sound like something that anyone would want to be at.

Parents sometimes arrange play dates for their children with kids who came down with chicken pox to intentionally infect them with it. It's a common childhood illness that can be very dangerous for adults, so the conventional wisdom is that it's best to get it out of the way when they're little.

those were common before vaccines, still organized today by anti-vaxxer parents, chickenpox can kill even healthy kids

In early October I calculated his profits at a little under $3500. His sales are not as easy to track as they were then, but I would estimate somewhere between $4ooo and $4500 of profit.

It's kind of sad to me that Chris has never really expressed an interest in learning, as far as I know. Instead of stuff like history, science, or technology, Chris seems to exclusively focus on TV, sanic and Sonichu, plastic building blocks, vidya, and MLP, for the most part.

Like someone else kind of said, Chris seems to be absolutely gorged on TV and pop culture (as well as fast food) - to the exclusion of having any sort of real interest in learning. Hell, he even admitted to reading Goosebumps in class (or sleeping). Chris even admitted that he learned stuff about Christianity from TV.

Chris would feel right at home in the world of Fahrenheit 451.

is Chris Chan an actor?

I'm afraid not.

The verified documentation on Chris's entire life is far too complete and detailed for it to be a reverse-troll setup. There are news reports from his childhood confirming his autism (see Chris in the media). There are two different blogs about Chris's behavior that were published before Chris came to a wider attention on the internet. Sonichu has existed since 2000. Phone calls have been made to Chris's parents and his pastoral counselor. When Chris was arrested and convicted of a felony he acted as he does online even in court. He burned down his house for reals as well.

That's not net profit though. How much does it cost to produce and does he charge extra for international shipping? I doubt he's losing money, but I wouldn't be surprised if the profit margins are laughable.

No, it is an attempt at estimating net profit. His revenues are probably $6500.

I don't think his profit margins are laughable at all. They are massive on the drawings, where his prices are $50-$100 and his materials are a piece of plain white paper. Model magic is pretty cheap too; Walmart sells a 2 pound bucket for $20. So the costs of a medallion are well under $5.

A lot of his shipping is domestic, the products are small and light, and he sends most of it regular mail, so I estimated his shipping costs at an average of $4 per item.

Actually, a lot of people have commented/complained about how his prices are ludicrously high. I think his price points are fairly spot on, except I think he should have charged an extra $10 or so per medallion. But he definitely has a good profit margin.

Do you realize--DO YOU REALIZE--he's scribbling with Crayola products, shoving the results in old lunch bags and chucking them at mailmen's heads, not using real art or shipping supplies?

i want your guys' opinion on something that has probably been discussed but not in a while. if it bothers anyone i'll just delete the post. in a hypothetical situation do you think cwc would have actually thrown away the cure for autism to win a free PS3 in that contest that went on ages ago? ive always wondered if he was serious, or just trying to think of something he thought would sound impressive for the judges

I think it's really impossible to say. Chris has variously been proud of his autism and cursed it. I don't think he really understand what autism is, so he'd either throw the cure away or keep it depending on how he happened to feel about autism at that specific moment.

The fascination he has with pop culture would make him a good Americanist (a scholar of American studies), but that would also require he have varied enough interests to engage in interdisciplinary studies (like history, science, and technology).

By that standard, the fascination he has with Lego would make him a good architect. His love of video games would make him a good games developer. His weird mannerisms would make him a good pragmatic linguist.

He isn't actually fascinated with the facets of pop culture; "why" it exists, "how" it exists etc. He probably doesn't even know it's called pop culture. He just likes things that are easy to digest and appeal to the brightly-coloured instant-gratification part of his autistic mind, and most of those things happen to be popular and therefore easy to find.

Um, I may get hate for this, but is Chris Chan an actor? How can anyone be like this?

You're going to get hate for this because you haven't bothered to read the CWCki. You just came straight to the forum because you were too lazy to find out for yourself. The question itself isn't dumb, especially with the Jace revelations, and it's one of the first questions everyone asks about Chris, but it's had a solid answer for years. Chris is featured in a news report at age 13. We have the report of a psychologist about his mental issues. We also have video of him macing a fucking GameStop employee and the fucking court records from no fewer than three arrests. Andy Kaufman never assaulted anyone--all his fights were staged. So if you want to argue that the store manager and the Virginia courts and the local news are in on the joke, then yeah, he's an actor.

I don't even know why you're interested in Chris, since it's clear that you don't know the first thing about him.
