I've been wondering about Chris's being easily fooled by things..I think there may be more to it than just "he's gullible" ..for example, I was watching some old video of him talking about Clyde killing someone, and mentioning off hand that Clyde had just killed a rival troll, and ...he can't believe that surely...it's more like he allows himself to be pulled into the roleplay? Like he's so into the story he lets himself act it out and believe it? I dunno I just think there's something more complex going on than autistic gullibility.
So first I would suggest you take a step back and think about exactly how gullible Chris actually is. He is indeed gullible, but I would imagine that you see him as way more gullible than he actually is.
Part of that is because Chris has known for a long time that he can't really trust his own perceptions of situations. He knows he's dumb (he doesn't realize how dumb though), so he relegates the job of vetting suspicious claims to IRL friends and family. So what seems as gullibility to the audience, is actually made up of a lot of people taking advantage of his trust.
The reason weens are so numerous is that we made trolling Chris look easy. To the audience, it seemed for a long time that anyone can call Chris up, say "hey, I'm a sonichu fan / girl, can we be friends??" and that in five minutes, they'd have a private audience with Chris and they could get all sorts of juicy content out of him.
Only one person has successfully cold approached Chris and pulled off an e-girlfriend shtick since Ivy, without having an existing IRL contact with Chris.
When you think of it that way, it puts things in perspective.
Of course, admittedly, the actual stories that go down in the trolling schemes are pretty silly. And I just attribute that to Chris being a dumbass (and again, trusting his friends not to lie to him).
