As for the 2nd component of your question, school is vastly different from work, when working, you are expected to quickly figure things out for yourself, think on your feet and establish effective daily routines to do your job properly, especially in the fast-food industry, which can be quite high pressure at times.
And to be honest, I still don't understand why Chris didn't just use his CADD certificate? He's someone who is far better suited to low wage entry-level desk work than working in some dinky Wendy's down the road, where he has to deal with shouting customers, high pressure and sensory overload.
At least, he should have gone for being some assistant mail room clerk or something. I guess his parents were just relieved that he finished college so they can just keep him behind closed doors or something.
