Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

The Congressional representative of Virginia's Fifth District is stepping down to battle alcoholism. Who gives a shit, right? Well if you check out the last paragraph in this article you might notice a familiar shyster suggested as his replacement.

Considering he was unethical enough to take money from an elderly woman and her exceptional son when a public defender could have done the same thing he did for no cost... he should do great in politics.

He's really pretentious.

In a Wikipedia article on him he was in the gaming industry and worked on Hero System (old rpg) but left ICE in 1990.

That's bull. It was certainly Barb who insisted on top notch legal counsel that was completely unnecessary. Unless he snookered her into thinking there would be fabulous results, it's anyone's right to make terrible decisions about how they spend their money. Note that when Barb herself wasn't a defendant, she was fine with Chris having a public defender.

I never said it was Chris and Barb that hired him. Barb did, but that money was also meant for Chris. I'm aware he didn't represent Chris but maybe (definitely heh) I'm being :optimistic: hoping he would've been like, "you don't need this level of representation, you're going to need to plead anyway."

Business is business I guess but I was being partially facetious anyway. I do wonder if Rob overplayed what kind of outcome he could get her though. I guess we'll never know.

In the end, it was Barb's decision. I don't really blame Rob even if he does seem like a bit of a douche.

He also represented Chris. But the reason Barb hired him is her own terror at the idea of being convicted of the felony she committed.

Ahhh. Thanks for the correction, just read up on how it all went down again, it's been 7 years so I was fuzzy on the specifics. Seems Rocky connected them with Rob?

I agree, I feel like if it had just been Chris he wouldn't have been hired. Who knows though, they had the money...

I think Barb had the much more serious charges, assaulting both Snyder AND a police officer, so she was probably right to be concerned. That said, I'd like to think a half decent court appointed attorney probably would've gotten them off too. Bell didn't really do anything spectacular aside from point out how absurd the Chandlers were, plus Snyder went easy on them.

The fact they had the assets they had at the time would have precluded at least Barb from getting a free public defender. If you have the money to hire Rob Bell, you are not impoverished enough to get a PD.

No lawyer is going to tell you you should hire a less competent lawyer. An ethical lawyer might tell you to hire a better lawyer more qualified for your specific case, but nobody in their right mind turns down a fee to tell you to hire that guy in the back of the phone book.

Chris is unaware that his day to day life isn't that far removed from Bronycon. The only things he can do there that he can't do from home are socialize and get detained for creeping on underage girls.

Rob Bell was worth every penny for annoying the hell out of Chris by referring to him as an "adult autistic child".

It's kind of fun that Chris has no real understanding that if he were not an adult autistic child, his tugboat would be listing and taking on water. Were he an austic adult or pony soul or whatever he wants to be called these days, he'd have been on SSI getting around half of his SSDI. I also believe he would not have received anything from Bob's work credits after he passed without the childhood diagnosis.

The credit for this goes to Bob. At some point, he figured his tard son would have to live on his own, and arranged for the :tugboat:

It's sad that much like Barb, he also joined in on the weird crusade to prevent Chris from actually getting the treatment he needed to make him slightly less of a tard.

But give him credit, he actually made sure this happened, and that it was something even his evil cunt of a wife couldn't squander, like she did with Rob Bell and with re-mortgaging the house he made sure was paid off before he got eaten by fucking bugs while Barb did nothing.

I think a lot of it was that he had a different view of the best "treatment" for Chris. It seemed to be an extreme version of the mainstreaming school of thought. He pushed Chris into regular high school, with a few special ed classes. He pushed him through an Associate's degree, where he seemed to receive very few formal accommodations for his autism. And he seemed to push him to get various jobs.

I think all that was at least worth trying, but I think where he fucked up was not pushing Chris into opportunities with more accommodations when he didn't succeed. He tried fairly hard to push him into the mainstream neurotypical world, and when that didn't work, he seemed to give up.

He didn't just give up, though. Once he realized Chris was actually a hopeless tard, he made sure to get him an income that would survive himself and even Blarb's greedy thieving behavior. This is why I like Bob. Even if I want to cuck him.
