Just checked and it’s legit. We’ve missed a ton it looks like. Frequent letters filed by the VA department of behavioral health and development services and the assistant attorney general who is tasked with overseeing health care related issues.

The case is sealed so we won't really know what is going on until it's over or we listen to unreliable narrators, like Chris or people who claim to have visited him. All we know is that there's an attempt to make some progress in placing Chris somewhere. It's not like we all just forgot to check.

The assistant attorney general seems pretty high on the totem pole, maybe Heilberg has a connection to her so he can pull some strings that other lawyers wouldn't be able to.

What's interesting, is that it looks like the assistant AG's letter came in before the "Gateway House" information was posted. One thing I read on their site about admission eligibility is:
  1. Individuals, 18 and over with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, ie: thought disorder, mood disorder or anxiety disorder
  2. No primary diagnosis of personality disorder, eating disorder, developmental disorder or significant intellectual impairment.
  3. If substance abuse is identified as a secondary treatment issue, the applicant must be committed to sobriety and willing to participate in substance abuse services as recommended.
  4. Applicants with a recent history of suicide attempts, self-injury, and/or aggression will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Typically at least six months of abstinence from these behaviors will be required prior to acceptance for admission.
  5. No registered sex offenders or individuals who have committed a sexual offense will be considered.
  6. Individuals must demonstrate a desire for increased independence and recovery.
I wonder if Chris was just an idiot with some personality quirks in the end, because that place doesn't take people with autism is looks like.

Number 5 and especially 6 is really going to screw Chris though.

Doubt it. I read in the autism deferral information that the top of VA's mental health system gives a determination on people who are referred for the deferral after all the evaluations were performed, basically the state signing off on autism was really the reason or not.

Edit: I did read that Tysinger is an advocate for the mentally handicapped in Virginia.

That would blow my mind. He has so many ticks and behaviors associated with the spectrum. You’d think it would have been discovered by now seeing as how he’s been getting benefits due to the tism.

If it was true, I would love to see Chris’s face upon hearing the phrase, “You don’t have Autism.” I know he’s made it such a part of his personal identity that he probably wouldn’t let it sink in, but it could still initially shock him.

Even better if it's followed up by, "You actually have Aspergers, Chris". That would be the cherry on top. The chimp out would be epic.

Heilberg is a prominent trial lawyer and has been a prosecutor, and Tysinger is an AAG. I'd be surprised if they'd never crossed paths before.

It could be garden-variety narcissism with some sociopathy and ADD thrown in for good measure combined with his clusterfuck of an upbringing which caused him to miss many important developmental milestones and now it is too late.

"Oh hey Allysson!"
"Hey David, how's stuff going?"
"Well, I was wondering if you could do me a favor."
"Sure, what is it?"
"Well, I've got this guy, named Chris Chan, who fucked his elderly mother, I was wondering if you could pull some strings.."

Would they be looking for a suitable place before Chris is sentenced? (I’m thinking due to how limited places are that they might not be able to put a space on hold for a year or more) or does this imply the autism deferral was accepted but they‘re finding it hard to place Chris anywhere suitable?

We've mostly thought they were having trouble placing him and if that latest place does take him they'd obviously be making exceptions to at least one rule. It's amazing how much difficulty Chris has caused for the jobs of multiple people. Who knew one tard and his bent duck could cause such a ruckus.

So is Chris at this Gateway Home or is that somewhere they wanna put him? Because I always thought dude needs to be in a group home.
No, he's still in jail. All we know is it's likely they were considering putting him there even though their rules say he shouldn't be there because he has a developmental disorder. He is also charged with a sex offense, although he isn't convicted, and he shows no signs of being able to live independently.

There's just no way Chris isn't autistic. He ticks every box there is to tick, and I seriously doubt he was misdiagnosed. Maybe it's a cover-all term for information about assisted living facilities in general, or maybe they automatically provide this (assuming it's a pamphlet or a short info event or something) to all inmates stamped as slow-in-the-mind who are about to be released :optimistic:.

It would be peak teflon tard if they are successfully able to argue while it looks like he commited a sex offense the charge was deferred so it doesn't count.

Also an uncomfortable precedent to set in Chris's mind.

I agree although maybe it's possible brain damage or something like that could cause similar symtoms?

No he isn't
He is charged with incest which is not considered a sex offense legally.

Although he wouldn't last long in a house if he's put in one anyway, he's too narcissistic to do his chores and doesn't want to be surrounded by slow-in-the-minds who are even less functioning than him.

The most horrifying outcome is if the state of Virginia for some reason decides to put him in a women's house
