This isn't an unpopular opinion per se, but I don't think Bob was actually racist in the sense of being a White Supremacist or evil Right Winger. At most he made insensitive jokes about ethnic minorities from time to time, but I don't think he outright hated anyone based on their race. I do however think he was a selfish prick and that Cole isn't exaggerating everything he says about Bob.

Good point, though what I meant by that was that Chris could've avoided that had he learned from his past mistakes (something he has exhibited the capacity to do, albeit rarely).

The thing with Chris is that he was great at ignoring fail-trolls. For every successful troll attempt there were a 100 terrible ones that he just ignored. That was part of the reason people used to think he was a ruse, he tended to pick the easiest and funniest trolls to believe and ignored everything else.

Striker was just fucking retarded. He literally believed everything everyone told him no matter how stupid it was. Chris was a lot more selective which was what made him so great.

Keep in mind that Chris had all of ED and 4chan trying to troll him while Striker had a few people on a small site in a thread a lot of people never even read.

No, it's much older than Chris. I don't think Chris used the phrase himself, actually, and if he did, we almost certainly dictated it to him.

Most of the time, at least up until recently (when Chris started branching out onto social media on his own), Chris mentioning any memes or any other internet culture was almost certainly dictated to Chris as a joke from the trolls to everyone else watching.

Recently, you might've noticed Chris noticing trolling and memes and "trollface" and shit like that. Originally, Chris just thought Clyde Cash et al were the sources of those references. He didn't even realize they were jokes, actually.

Only nowadays is Chris starting to wise up that some of those references might actually have been a part of broader culture outside of his little bubble of trolls.

I agree with OP, I like the Catherine saga and I feel it was one of the most informative. Sure she didn't make him shove something up his ass or get nudes, but I feel that the point was to get a more personable view of Chris. Everyone always said Chris is impossible to deal with in person, but Catherine proved that was true. Even when giving him ample opportunity to be an upstanding person he still fucked it all up because he just refuses operate like the rest of us. It's probably the closest we'll ever get to an objective Louis Theroux day-in-the-life-of style documentary of Chris.

Personally, I am a great admirer of BlueSpike's work.

Like Salieri in Amadeus, I stood for years behind the young genius while asking myself, "How does he do it? How does he manage to play Chris like that? Why did God gave this child so much trolling talent, while I strive and stumble and fail at every attempt?"

And then I come here and find that people condemn BlueSpike and reject him morally. And, again like Salieri in front of the dissolute Mozart, I think "could it be possible? Could it be that the young man who managed to force an autistic fatso into shoving a medallion up his ass could actually be an amoral degenerate?"

My theory is that one of Chris' tests, consciously or subconsciously, is "suppose there is a small chance this is real, can I afford to take that chance?".

So to "get in" with Chris as a troll, you have to offer him something he can't risk letting go (usually a sweetheart), or threaten something he can't afford to ignore (stealing Sonichu). And of course you have to execute it well.

The Jackie saga is the one that convinced me of this the most. I always thought there was a subtext in there interactions which was Chris saying "yup, this is questionable. She is refusing to meet me and making me make lots of ridiculous videos. But I can't pass up this opportunity if it is real".

Agreed, and I know more than a few feel the same way.

Leading on from this, I feel that too many used Chris as legitimised bullying just to stroke their own egos. The best Chris material imo, is when he's just being Chris. If you're going to interfere just throwing up a scenario and letting him react to it works best, like Asperchu. Maybe I'm misremembering it, but I felt all Alec really did was hold a mirror up to him.
