Apparently they were paid or they just hung out with him out to pity according to old troll Thetan. I think it just has to do with who Chris is these days and especially with what he's done. The world got a taste of it after groping and messily kissing people at that convention, where previously, he'd just show up and be a relatively harmless doofy tard.

I think she's still there but in the background, the Big Foot hunt seems to be over because he's now online again so people are less likely to be looking for him in person so sightings of the Cabbage Patch Doll made flesh have stopped as a result.

If it's true that they first started talking in jail, then it might have just been the shock of seeing day-to-day Chris and how he operates that killed the deal.
