@Marvin , in some of those new old content mailbag letters, Chris shows he is aware his life is in a bad place. All in all, how much does it seem to you that Chris is aware his life is in turmoil? Such as, is he aware that subsisting on welfare is below average living? Is he aware that a successful franchise brings in comparably more revenue than Sonichu? Is he aware that someone with his life together can afford a caretaker for an aging mother, or that a financially well-off transgender can easily afford transition surgery, as well as freezing his sperm at a legitimate cryogenic company? etc?
If so, how does he come to terms with those, against his ego convincing him he is great at everything? How much of his own empty boasts does he believe? Does there exist a fine line between delusion and deliberate albeit pitiful attempts at fooling everyone else?
Is there anything at all which he blames on himself?
So, the reoccurring theme I see in Chris' view of any of his troubles is fuzziness. He's got a fuzzy head all the time about these things.
Specifically:
Is he aware that living off of welfare is below average? - Chris always imagined himself to grow up to be Homer Simpson. He's a normal dude, with a family and kids. When money troubles get bad, Chris just then shifts his view of himself from "family man" to "struggling family man". Normal, but dealing with hard times.
Is he aware that a successful franchise brings in comparably more revenue than Sonichu? - Chris doesn't give a shit about franchises anymore. Like, y'know how panhandlers have a sign that says "gotta feed my kids, need money"? Some of them might've had kids at some point. But those kids are probably long gone. That's all that Sonichu is to Chris nowadays, something he draws on a piece of cardboard and holds by the side of the highway to get change.
As far as finances go, I started to quote each one (housing Barb, tranny stuff, jizzsicles, etc) and explain why Chris doesn't notice it / doesn't care, but really, that's all that needs to be said: Chris doesn't care. He's not sweating these things, they might as well be gold plated toilet seats from his perspective. He's just a regular dude, he drinks beer, he loves his family. Rock, flag n eagle, y'know what I'm saying?
And really, Chris doesn't really feel financial pain all that much. Barb does and she passes it along to him occasionally. I say this a lot, but Chris really doesn't have financial problems. He keeps his books, he knows where he stands, and he spends money like he wants.
Chris lives cheaply/lazily regarding everything he doesn't care about. He's the kind of guy to buy toilet paper from dollar stores, and use a coupon while he's at it. (He does weird, cheap old person shit like that sometimes.) With no complaints from him. Chris is as happy as a pig in shit, using single ply toilet paper,
sweating greasing through goodwill tshirts, with $400 electronics hooked up to his $200 tv.
And in general, regarding his fuckups: Chris knows he fucks up, but he has a hell of a time figuring out to what degree things were his fault, and then the appropriate way to handle that.
Back to how I started off with this, Chris has a fuzzy head. He knows he's at fault a little, but because he can't find where his crime falls, between first degree murder and petty vandalism, he has a tendency to push the line to the vandalism side of things. It's a persistent "what's the big deal" attitude that's always in his favor.
