Containment Random Thoughts & Questions

Did Chris' parents, at any point in his life, ever love him?
By "love" I mean: desiring what is best for him, wanting to help him succeed, actually caring about him/willing to put him above themselves.
If they did, there isn't much evidence for it IMO ( aside from giving him food and a roof over his head. And all the vidya/ junk food he could want too I guess)

We can't even conclusively prove Chris was intended. That's really all that needs to be said.

Im sure he wasn't. Bob and Barb were probably not looking for another child when they married.
They both seem to have huge personality problems, since both had children that wouldn't speak to them.
Barb likely realized with terror that she wasn't getting any younger, and had best use what little beauty remained to latch onto a man with (reasonable) money. She probably wasn't that bad looking pre 1986 or so.
Both probably just wanted a drinking partner to spend their golden years with, and got trolled by godbear when he gave them Chris ;)

Eh, it's a dumb question. Your definition of love isn't one I've heard of. At least specifically or consistently. Love in general doesn't always consist of always putting them above yourself. That'd be more... unlimited love. Or, I had a better term for that, but I forgot the word. But, OK, some people might think parents should have unlimited love for their child. As far as doing what is best for him, or wanting to help him succeed and caring about him, they probably did. We have no reason to think otherwise.

Really, most of the evidence we have is that Bob and Barb were pretty warped people who made bad decisions and had strange emotional hangups. We're missing the huge missing portion of evidence that is needed to suggest that they specifically weren't doing what they thought was best. At this point, all we can think is that they had a shitty idea of what the "best" is.

It's kinda like how people interpret Barb and Cole's relationship and make a lot of unjustified assumptions about it. Huge cavern of evidence that's missing and we have no reason to think either way.

Did they? As far as we can tell, yes. No reason to believe they didn't.
Did the fuck up quite a bit and make a lot of shitty choices that hindered Chris' development? Absolutely.

How would you react if it was revealed one day that everything about Our Pet Lolcow was this whole time, nothing but a well conceived act to fool the entire world, regardless of what the actual purpose was or how long it continued?

Not that this is true of course, but just saying...
It would restore my faith in humanity.

Actually, no. That'd just make US retarded.

You know he wrote these comic books, right?

I was thinking more in the case of Chris Chan masking up and putting on a cape, as an actual superhero. Maybe I missed this somewhere in his comics. And if I have, someone please show it to me.

Okay, but WHERE exactly does Chris dress up as I've explained? And no, Sonichu and self-insertion Chris (dressed as himself) doesn't count.

A link to the comic page or issue number would help.

EDIT: Wait, I found it, no worries.

TBH, I've read more about Our Pet Lolcow than I have of his web comic, Sonichu.
Does his C'hris-Chan Sonichu cosplay count?

Yes. It's warped by autism and poor parenting but he isn't some inhuman beast.
I forget if it was Marvin or Alec (I think Marvin) who said that Chris DOES experience remorse, and a lot of his mental gymnastics are his way of escaping guilt. It's because he does experience guilt that he's become quite adept at justifying his horrible behavior.

So, apparently today is "World Autism Day".
A special day for all of us, obviously, but an even more special day for our beloved CWC. My question is this; do you think Chris even knows this day exists? He may have touched on it in a video, but I can't remember.

I don't think he knows about "World Autism Day," but he is aware (heh) of "Autism Awareness Month," which I believe is in May? & even then, that was only because there was an ad about it on the CWCipedia. & this might be the video you're thinking of.

The word you're thinking of is "unconditional," Marv.

Well love is when someone else's happiness is central to your own

Soooo anyone who "loves" Chrissy better be ready. It won't be easy to make him happy or keep him happy. That's why I always suggested that Chris is incapable real love because of his self- entitlement and over reaching ego. He can't put a other person before himself.

Ah, there you go.

Eh, that's not always necessary. So yeah, by that standard, Chris could love someone. Heh, well, plus, he's putting Barb before himself right now.

(But anyway, most people sharing a common cultural background probably all feel the same emotion they'd call "love." But when you start to define these feelings, like with words, and then debate the subject, it becomes really fiddly and pointless because of people disagreeing on the specifics. Well, and also because a lot of people have good intentions and just shitty executions. Debating about love and the Chandlers is pretty pointless.)
