The chances of Chris offing himself are basically nil. Despite his history of threats, he seems scared to inflict physical harm on anyone, let alone himself.

I'd say basically nil. Most of Bob and Barb's family have cut them off, and those that haven't are likely incredibly decrepit, if not dead. There's nobody who really knows Chris. Chris' attempts at reaching out have pretty much consisted of shouting childish abuse.

Even ignoring that, it's difficult to know what help they could give. Chris doesn't technically need financial help, and enforced adulthood is really a job for the professionals. I don't think any of Clan Chandler would be too keen to take on the full-time care of a retarded transvestite.

How likely will "they" help him refinance? The longer they can let Chris drag on the more interest they earn? I don't think that house can be sold at market value if they foreclose on him.
