It's hard to tell. Certainly he's aware that he's overweight, as indicated by his argument in the Asperchu saga that the eponymous character was fat and thus a parody of him. On the other hand, he also seems to think that if he pretends he's thin, everyone else will believe it.

I don't believe Chris actually fully gets the concept of physical attractiveness. He can be shown photos of two different women and believe them to be one and the same. So when Barb said he was handsome, he probably believed it and continues to believe it. So while he probably thinks he is physically attractive, it's not because he looks in the mirror and sees an Adonis so much as because he doesn't instinctively understand what physical attractiveness is. This is also probably why he thinks he makes a convincing woman.

What's sad is that when you look at that old Christmas video when he was 24, still had a fairly full head of hair, was a lot thinner and didn't dress like a serial killer, there might have been hope. He'd never have been hot, but he could have been presentable.

Does anyone have a link to the collage that displays all of the inconsistent ways Chris drew himself in Sonichu? Maybe I'm just :stupid:, but I can't find it anywhere. I can't remember if I read it on the forums or wiki either, so that adds to the mess.
I think know it exists out there, somewhere.

He seems to think of himself as chubby. He referred to his "Buddha Belly" a lot, and your Aperchu example is spot on. But not obese. If you call him fat, he thinks of someone a lot more obese than him and objects.

It's not an entirely inaccurate description. He is overweight, but certainly wouldn't stand out in a crowd for being fat. A decent chunk of the population is fatter than him.

His body has gotten a little weirder lately as his limbs have atrophied to an odd degree. But up until that point he was within the normal range of society, which admittedly tends towards chunkiness these days.

I agree. Apparently he had to study himself in the mirror to remember what he looked like.

I picture his perception of human attractiveness as something along the same lines as we understand animal mating. We can understand intellectually that brightly coloured plumage makes birds more attractive to each other. But we wouldn't know that if we weren't told. Likewise Chris has picked up what makes people attractive from pop culture and has memorized a list of attributes. Since his sense of attractiveness is malleable, why wouldn't he think of himself as attractive?

That is probably a little bit of an exaggeration, but I think the metaphor has some merit.

I suppose. If he dressed normally, and kept himself in marginally better shape, I am sure a decent chunk of women would give him the time of day. And then be put off after 30 seconds of conversation. So instead of being put in the reject pile after one second, he would be put in after 30 seconds.

Not much of an improvement if his only goal is to land a sweetheart. If we expand his set of goals to include being able to go to a store without people double taking and thinking "what the fuck is that?", then yeah, he is fucking that up unneccesarily.
 
Is Christine gonna get an Apple Watch? I mean she's a girl now and girls looove shopping and are ditzy so she'll drop a few hundred or more easily on a stylish new high tech fashion accessory to go with her 2 iPhones AND iPod Touch in a sexy yet durable custom duct tape iDea case!!! AAH I can't handle the astronomical levels of sparkle and sass! My blood vessels!!

This is incidentally exactly where Borb utterly fucked him for life. However imperfect the training and treatment options for autism were at the time, at the very least, he would have been taught enough coping skills that, if he chose to use them, he could manage not to sperg out in the couple minutes of personal interaction it takes to get to know people.

As it is, he basically exposes himself as a fucking sped the second he opens his mouth.

This has basically condemned him to a life without any real friends or any possibility of love.

He would have still been dysfunctional to a greater or lesser extent, and probably an asshole, but he wouldn't have ended up an involuntary hermit.

People around here joke about how Chris starts to look like Barb 2.0. Maybe Chris is flattered by such remarks since he thinks that means his girl-disguise is really good.

I love how in some, his hair is straight up like Paul Phoenix/Slim Jim Guy/Wayne Static. I wonder if he saw himself that way at times, or if it was related to his poor grasp on anatomy.

That IRL one never gets old, and bottom one is a personal favorite of mine, a truly magnificant work of art as well as a depressingly accurate analyzation of Chris' psyche. Godbear, I would love to have it framed with one of those art exhibit sconces above it. Classy shit :)

I still think of one of the drawings from issue #0 where he gives himself a pompadour and his smile looks like the "reload" icon on a web browser.

Now that Christine posts 'marriage-equality' pictures to his Facebook, has anyone ever confronted him about his seething hatred of homosexuals?

I realize that he has non-apologized for his homophobic comments before, but only at the behest of some sweet thang who he thought was gonna give him china. And then went back to hating homos anyway.

Chris's views on homosexuality in regard to mayos will most likely remain fickle, and depend on the situation.
I know in the mid 2000's it was common for people to not be as accepting of homosexual lifestyles as they are today, and that can explain his irrational hatred of them.
If you want to go the Freud route and say his hatred of them is just projection of Chris's true fears of becoming one himself (remember Sailor Moon is over his bed to keep him straight), then maybe Chris has had "gay thoughts" and pushed them away, creating his complex views about "LBT with no G". We will never know for sure. Or we will. The future of Chris is mysterious.

It will really depend on who addresses his hatred, if they're a good and caring female, or a dang dirty mayo. Of course he's going to show preference towards the former, and agree with their views on homosexuality.
