About as autistic, but not really. Even though a tulpa is generally perceived as an external entity, tulpamancers generally know their creation is just part of their own mind. Tumblrites pretend headmates actually exist as multiple personalities.

Wait, damegreywulf is also autistic-toxsa? Crap, I remember this person. She was one of the people who started that huge drama over the Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa crossover back in April. She claimed she was triggered by the crossover's mere existence, and she said it would literally traumatize children, and that it was the exact same thing as child abuse. According to Wikipedia, the concept of the Tulpa originates from Tibetan Buddhism.

It's not primarily a Tumblr thing, I've mostly seen it associated with 'chans and Reddit. Modern "tulpamancers" are half wannabe-mages and half neckbeards trying to create their pony waifu. They're probably threadworthy on their own.
