We do have a Shaun King thread, though calling a black man "boy" definitely has racial connotations, whether intended or not. Typically southerners would use the term against black men as a way of "putting them in their place," not as men, but boys. I'd say that anger is justified, considering the implications.
Besides, this article, and other articles like it, are the least interesting aspects of Shaun King.
I see nothing wrong with promoting black comic creators and artists for Black History Month (that'd be a pretty nifty idea, actually), but OCs? Typically, "OCs" are marked as characters a creator does very little with aside from drawing them kissing other people's OCs or roleplaying with them. Nothing wrong with that either, but a month-long celebration of Original Characters that likely only are used for roleplay by their creator or stories they'll never actually start? Seems pretty circlejerk-y. The blog image confirms it.

And even if it were wrong, the most likely explanation would still be that Instagram is rife with bad beauty trends and people who think they know what they're doing, but don't, because they learned everything off Instagram. Nevermind how pale girls have been trying to "warm up" their complexions for years, yellow-based foundations are just cosmetics companies trying to cater to the majority, and the people using entirely the wrong shades probably didn't have a clue to begin with.
