You can also read reviews past employees of tumblr have left saying that the dev team is mostly incompetent. They really just needed to look at popular add ons for tumblr to get an idea of what the userbase wants, or even just get in touch with the developers themselves. It's beyond me they spent time adding an instant messaging feature and removing information from your dashboard, but no way to send asks from side accounts or block tags without downloading extensions.

Not that every update has sucked, just that regardless of the userbase, I'm of the opinion that yahoo doesn't really understand what makes tumblr a popular blogging platform. Exactly. Tumblr also went out of its way for a while to make it so that third party extensions wouldn't work, which is why Missing E fell to the wayside. I think they're at a point now where they simply do not care that so many of their users use a third party extension to make the website useable. Tumblr wasn't as much of a headache a few years ago, but the developers never really cared about functionality. It just had to look cool and be perceived as cool, and apparently they got ass mangled when someone made their site run better.
