Eh. The same mindset has been around for decades, the scum they defend has just changed. In the 80's it was the wonderful soviet Latin America that the 20-somethings cooed over. In the 90's they wept that the Soviets had fallen, preventing the glorious world peace they just knew was coming under communist rule. Then 9/11 happened and they had a new group that hated America, so they had to start cooing over radical Muslims.

Well if anything, the bad consequences of imperialism and colonization are the immense White Guilt that's sweeping over USA and Europe that they turn a blind eye to all these things.

This "visibly gay" nonsense means every gay male character should hunger for cock 24/7 in every scene and be very flamboyant, over-dramatic, catty cunt-y as opposed to just slipping his arm around another man's waist and/or getting to make out with partner in a scene like it's no big thang. Same goes for lesbians. Their sexuality should not be the fucking focus of every scene unless the scene is meant to be about sexuality/sex in the first place.

I don't think decent these-characters/people-are-not-jokes representation means what they think it do.

It takes some very spoiled, fucked-up parenting to raise such entitled children, who demand apology from their parents for imagined wrongs.
The family was, in a sense, asking for it.

Honestly, the more I think about this last part, the mindset just becomes even more worrying. Is it possible that any of them could've been in some kind of abusive relationship and haven't fully recovered? Or maybe some had a bad habit of blaming themselves for things that wasn't their fault and all the white guilt rhetoric just exacerbated it?

I think I'm getting to a point where I'm honestly through with being pissed off at these kinds of people and instead feeling sorry for them. Is there something wrong with me for thinking that?

I mean, I was blatantly strawmanning, but on the rare occasion when someone of their ilk addresses situations like these, there always seems to be that implication lying beneath the surface.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

it's a mix of both. Most latino-americans who aren't special snowflakes won't agree with that bullshit, but those latino-americans who are white as sin and spend every waking moment of their life on tumblr who also end up fully boarding the crazy train use that latinx crap.
