...So why are you giving her exposure still? Like, I've literally seen five other posts like this that unabashedly feature the art in question along with actual good art that she's done (for some reason?) and don't bother to realize that they're giving her a bigger audience of sympathy by putting the two together.
Then again, the people doing this are, unsurprisingly, artists that have less than decent skill anyways.
I can actually give some professional insight here.
See the thing people don't get about marketing or advertising is that they think it's all about making people
like the product.
It isn't. McDonald's has been selling the same limp, off-grey meat sludge for decades, and nobody argues that it's "good".
You eat it because you're traveling, you're tired, and above all, because it's the first thing that comes to your mind. "Brand awareness" would be the industry term.
See they don't have to necessarily like you, they just have to know you. Improving your image can be done later, what's important is that people know your name.
Tumblr, despite delusions of intellect, is actually pretty easy to goad and manipulate in this manner; it's why a lot of culture targets them. If this person is a serious artist, a sudden "everybody look at this person" campaign is a blessing, not a curse.
Hell, if I was an artist, getting into a massive controversial shitstorm would be step 1. That shit sells.
