You’re not a true lesbian if you don’t like dick. I’ve seen actual arguments before about how since lesbians are attracted to women, they therefore have no reason to reject a transwoman because they are women just the same as them. They will also call a lesbian a heterosexual if they’re screwing a transman.

That would age the story like fuck. The appeal of the story and all its good adaptations is that the kids have problems that you can recognize in any era- child obesity, spoiled brats, technology educating our kids, etc etc. Those are problems and symptoms of bad parenting, and I think Dahl wanted to point that out in the story.
But changing it to be "Tumblr and the Chocolate Factory" is just a huge projection.
EDIT: Just noticed she didn't mention Veruca. Does she stay the same then?
