"Systems that don't work for POC"? I would dearly love to know why it is that functioning in this "white" society is so impossible for POC--and why such a proposition isn't white-supremacist.

"All the serial killers and mass shooters". Unlike, say, the guys who pop caps in each other's asses on a daily basis? Or does she not care about violence when it's done to blacks by other blacks? Again, how is this not a white-supremacist position?

Black people are serial killers at around roughly the same percentage white people are. Since the majority of the country is white people, though, most of them tend to be white men.

Being cruel and sadistic knows no racial boundaries.

FUCK YOU.

Space Jam is my favorite crazy, pandering, corporate mess, thank you very much, and I will defend my enjoyment of it as much as I defend my enjoyment of Spider-Man 3.

OK, I can't begrudge you that. Heck, I had a friend back in high school who thought Spider-Man 3 was not only a good film but a work of art. (She may have been kinda nuts.)

Well, of course. How dare a dystopian society not have perfect socially progressive morals?

(Context for those of you who missed it: Urbance is an animated series that recently premiered after a long crowdfunding campaign that Tumblr hopped all over. They initially loved it for focusing on non-white youth below the poverty line, but now that they've found out they're not the intended audience, it's suddenly "white" despite the races of the staff never coming into question before.)

Late reply is late but since people are still whining about The 100...

Yes. They really do care more about the death of a fictional gay character than the death of a real gay person. During the whole Adventure Time fiasco when you had people crying and bitching to cartoon network about 'muh OTP' and threatening a boycott, a gay teen committed suicide due to bullying. It was a very big deal and very widely covered, it was such big news that even Lady Gaga got involved with it. Not one of the spergs whining about Marceline/Bubblegum on my timeline said a word about it or even paid enough attention to know it happened. When I asked they said "Oh. I wasn't aware" and went right back to sperging over cartoon lesbians like being denied that was destroying the gay rights movement. You can't ship dead gay people and draw porn of it, I guess.

Some people--too few--are able to have compassion and empathy for anyone, anywhere, simply because the object is human and suffers. Some people can have compassion and empathy, but only if they feel a personal connection with the sufferer.

Too many only make a show of compassion and empathy because they know other people will praise them for it.

Is this at all related to some tumblr hashtag I saw trending yesterday? Something like "#lgbt fans deserve better". Or was that related to a separate incident?

I saw that tag used for The 100 but who knows when it's tumblr.

Probably, the same people complaining about The 100 started talking about LGBT representation in general.

Apparently the showrunner said the actress on The 100 had to leave because she was contracted to another show -- but Tumblr says that's no excuse, of course.
