Random Tumblr posts

To quote a tumblr post I don't have 'give us happy lesbians where nothing bad ever happens to them'. They're children who can't take bad things happening to fictional characters (hence some of them saying people who play the genocide route in Undertale are horrible people or something)

People with autism have difficulty telling reality from fantasy.

lol, 'you have just committed a transphobic act' by removing signs people put around

Also 'they know themselves better than you do' is a piss-poor argument that can be used to justify things like being a pedo or abuser or rapist—if they don't identify as one of those, you see, but you think they are, don't worry about it.

Despite most of the media Tumblr likes to consume generally being somewhat dark in undertones featuring serious aspects like death (aside from the Steven Universe/other cartoon parts), they generally advocate for everything to be taken on a weird almost romcom-esque route where nothing bad ever happens and it's 100% fluff.
I was always a person who thought "dark and edgy" or subversive things are a bit overrated, and optymistic, lighthearted stories too often labelled as weak or childlish. It's just my feelings and preferences. And what tumblr/SJWs do irritates me. They want dark, emo stories, because "OMG, characters suffering so much i would hug them uwu" and at the same time change everything into gay fluff without any personality. And gay is the keyworld, stories are allowed to be happy and fluffy when they are about gay couple. They like action stories with bigger conflicts when they are about bulky STRONG WOMYN killing and kissing each other.

I decided to check random tumblr blogs for the first time since... 2014? My friend told me that the website is getting better lately and she easily avoid SJWish stuff.
Every single blog I found posted some of that stuff. Blog about writing - unlearn to write white characters!" and lame werewolf ideas. Blog about obscure TV show that seems to be free of sJW fans - "they all are trans and I have some headcananons for their sexual life". Some personal blogs - hundreads of posts about POC and female characters in media and how everything is wrong. And everyone is some kind of gay.
I'm done with tumblr for another 2 years probably.
YOU MUST LOVE ALL ASIAN GIRLS!
Cowboys are gay, white masculinity is the worst thing ever
LGBT people only deserve happy endings.

And my fave thing. Somebody posted out of context gifs from Sailor Moon and other person wrote how it's all about female/gay empowerment and this post now has 60k notes.
And then somebody posted screenshot of dialog that happened just after that out of scene:

I know I can be a bit spergy about this topic, but it really bothers me that one of my favourite shows is interpreted by tumblr only as super feminist progressive propaganda, quite often because of out of context gifs.
Show has more to offer.

I think it depends, tbh, I see more tumblrinas going nuts after "fluffy" light-hearted media over "dark and edgy" adult stuff (one of my lolcows had a huge hate-boner for Nolan's Batman and Game of Thrones, but instead went nuts over shitty cartoons like that Bears show and Pokemon). I think the idea/problem with tumblr is not so much they like "Lightheartedness", it's just that they go boners for kid's shit.
Being into lighthearted media would like being into It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Parks and Rec. But it's not that, these people barely if ever watch those types of shows/movies (I don't even think they have "fandoms" on tumblr), instead they just go nuts for shitty kids' films and cartoons and they're content with that, and the problem stems from them NEVER watching anything that's appropriate for their age group.

Understandable. Fandoms in tumblr are turned into either these misandrist racist "feminist" genderspecial bullshit or autistic crap that turns the characters into one dimensional stereotypes and nobody but these users would like (ooh Avengers fandom...)

C.S. Lewis' words on arrested development come to mind here.

"They accuse us of arrested development because we have not lost a taste we had in childhood. But surely arrested development consists not in refusing to lose old things but in failing to add new things?"

Tumblr in a nutshell, arguably.

Yeah, I was a little confused by IdaRita's post because everyone I see on tumblr is obsessed with Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and whatever other sparkly, coloful shit Cartoon Network has on.

But it if you don't love asian girls, you're a racist!
IF YOU HAVE ANY SEXUAL PREFERENCES THAT DON'T SPECIFICALLY INCLUDE ME AND ONLY ME, YOU'RE AN EVIL HATEFUL CIS WHITE MALE SHITLORD!!!1

About the Sailor Moon thing? Even better, the love-letter was meant for a boy.

Sorry, my mistake then. As I wrote before, I'm rarely on tumblr, because this site irritates me and I don't know everything tumble is into, especially now. But from I know from deviantart, where I'm active, tumblrina users ("other" choose as gender option, "I post more on tumblr, check my blog!!" in descriptions to pictures) usually dtraw suffering characters and bloody stuff next to fluffy things. And that whole "subversive kawaii" stuff.

Interesting how the people "offended" about whitewashing don't take into consideration the actually "affected" people, the Japanese. They only really give two shits for the off-spring of immigrants in America, fuck the rest of the world.

I've heard, and don't quote me on this, that one peripheral reason for casting white actors as east Asian characters in cinema is because most east Asian countries cannot stand each other and it's safer to just cast a white person rather than cast a lead from a specific ethnicity and risk losing a huge chunk of the foreign market. I mean, this itself is super backwards and stupid, but it makes a bit more sense when you also take Hollywood's blatant pandering to China in particular in big blockbuster films while still avoiding casting Asian leads.

... But yeah, Japanese in Japan wouldn't see themselves as marginalized.
