He's a nationalist Turk, so what? Why is "nationalist" a dirty word nowadays?

Being proud of your country and patriotism in general has been pretty much coopted for a lot of people by ultra-right-wing racists. It's been like this for years; the sort of can-do, George M. Cohan style patriotism that nobody had any problem with a hundred years ago is long, long gone.

Well, you see, it's okay to advocate for censorship, complete government control over the economy, and soft and even hard genocide, as long as you don't also have a strong national identity or give a whack about your own citizens. That's where Tumblrinas just have to draw the line...

To be fair, there is a difference between patriotism (being proud of your country) and nationalism (my country is the absolute best and other countries must suffer to let mine grow)
For example some nationalist parties in central EU want parts of Italy they owned centuries ago, stuff like that.
No idea how nationalism works in Turkey, but it's a pretty fucked country for sure

I don't agree with your black/white outlook on patriotism vs. nationalism.

Patriotism is an inherent pride in your country or birthplace. Nationalism is realizing that your country / birthplace and the people that live in it are a separate nation from the rest of the world and being interested in their interests first and foremost. Which IMHO is normal - anyone who says they care more about people that live far away from them than the people in their own country are either liars or just dumb.

"My country is the absolute best" isn't necessary to be a nationalist. You see this all the time with supposed "white separatists" and "white nationalists" too. Most of them don't feel like they're "better" than black people and Mexicans and Jews or whatever else. They just want to be white and keep their country majority white because that's what it has been traditionally. Whites have their countries, blacks have their countries, Middle Easterners have their countries, Southeast Asians have their countries, etc.

TL;DR - I don't think nationalism is necessarily linked to thoughts of supremacy.

The salt bae meme has been declared problematic™ because the guy is apparently a Turkish Nationalist

Yes, whining about some guy from a meme will definitely get you your well-deserved brownie points.
The photos that they show as "evidence" are just pictures of the flag. Without translating the instagram comments, they know fuckall about the intent.

Wow they used gender neutral terms and they still assume they're straight. Looking at notes I think the original post is for roleplaying.
I'll never understand why tumblr users are so pretentious especially when they are gay. I've seen plenty of friends in unhappy relationships straight and gay, then again I doubt many tumblrinas have been in a relationship.

isn't it true that lesbian relationships are the most likely to fail?

I don't even know what to say about this, although i'd like to start with "in the 21st century in a country that allows gay marriage and hate crimes are disallowed by law, what the fuck is straight privilege"

I'm not quite sure what she's getting at, unless it's that being in a relationship with a bi person automatically confers a sex change on the non-bi partner.

For those of you who aren't aware, women's hygiene products tend to be slightly more expensive than men's. Most folks would think about it and say that it's because of all the different scents, oils, and chemistry designed for silky this or soft that. Tumblr instead says it's the patriarchy.

I haven't seen any places talking yet about how this is transphobic (since transwomen need to buy those expensive female products, but might look like big hulking burly men.)

Could they not just buy the cheapest shampoo bottle available? Or are the Patriarchy Stormtroopers forcing them to get the pink ones?

Considering I'm sure the OP is about tropes they want to see more of in shipping fanfic/RP that would mean most of the (fictional) relationships op is talking about would actually be gay since like 70% of that shit at least is m/m. But I guess tumblrinas can waste any possibly opportunity to hate on straight people.

Unequal treatment of customers based on the personal beliefs of the owner regarding their race/sex/orientation?

Well, that's not illegal, I'm sure.

Re: the straight privilege thing, there's this incredibly stupid belief among some of the more petty/deranged of the Tumblr Gays crowd that claims that if you're bi or pan and dating someone of the opposite sex, you get "straight privilege" because you obvs look "straight" to the non-gay normies. And thus you won't be subject to the same prejudices as the more obviously gay would.

It's just another excuse to throw bi people (and some trans couples, mostly ones with actual trans men) under the bus, though.
