Do they actually think the main point of Animal Farm was "communism is bad capitalism is better." Are they aware Animal Farm was written by a socialist who was criticizing the fact that Stalin had failed to live up to those ideals and the USSR ended up no better than it was before the adoption of communism?

...apparently I am a character from a Gothic novel now. I'm not remotely surprised.
I'm frankly more shocked Tumblr knows how to read anything that isn't Harry Potter or shit fanfiction. Troll post or not.
Seriously, the only books I have ever SEEN mentioned by Tumblr are Harry Potter, and a few who read something called "The Raven Cycle" which I have no idea what it is only that it seems to be full of angsty supernatural teenage boys (so, naturally, they love it). They don't even read Game of Thrones despite all the bitching they do about the show.
Some of them use the excuse that there's nothing "progressive" enough book-wise for them but frankly I just think they're all lazy and anti-intellectual as sin.

They were at the height of their popularity (I am ashamed to admit it's through Tumblr I got into the series), that being said, it's hardly mentioned now (mostly because they've all turned on Jennifer Lawrence and also claim it's not progressive anymore because "THEY WHITEWASHED ALL THE POC IN THE MOVIES"), and look at what they create in terms of fan content FOR said series. Modern romantic drama AUs about Katniss being unable to choose between Peeta or Gale. Sex slavery for poor Finnick that you just know some fangirl is getting off on. Unrelated AUs for other series where it's just character transplants in the fucking story (i.e. One Direction boys in the roles of Peeta and Katniss or something). Reducing Johanna Mason to a token lesbian.
It's like they didn't absorb a fucking non-shallow theme from the actual books. I mean, THG isn't exactly the height OF literature, it's a dystopian YA series, but come on.
That being said, the one fanfic I once saw where someone retooled the Hunger Games into a cooking show competition was actually surprisingly creative.

They do know that bluegrass (the ancestor of country music) was created by white Irish and English immigrants, right? So they can't claim credit for it. And while Jimmy Hendrix has some influence on heavy metal, Led Zepplin was also a huge inspiration. I'm pretty sure adult contemporary was mainly attributed to whites.
