I haven't watched a whole lot of Brooklyn 99 but it's not that funny. It's no Parks and Rec or Community. There are some chuckles in there but it's not comedy genius.

There is a lot of pandering and preachiness in there, so I think I know why Tumblr adores it so much.

Whenever Tumblr sings high praises of some piece of media for how woke it is it makes me not want to watch it. Which is a shame, because despite having a big Tumblirina fanbase the thing might actually be good.

They did it with Orange Is The New Black as well. Because every female prisoner was a lesbian and the whole diversity thing with the characters plus the trans character. Even though tbh I lost interest in the show after season 2.

I watched the first few episodes, and the protag said bisexuality was a phase, but considering how tumblr lesbians act I'm sure they didn't care one bit about that.

Suddenly r/latestagecapitalism makes sense. This exact image was the topic of a well-received post there a week back. The only question is who posted it first, the tumblrettes or the internet commies?

he funny thing is that they are actually pretty much saying the same thing that Neo-Nazis say, that anti-Racism will lead to White Genocide with them saying that not being Racist (saying to get along cause we all Human Race) will lead to Genocide.

I don't think it's fair to claim that this image is implying that one thing is sufficient alone to cause another thing higher up on the pyramid. The argument is that all of the things on one tier of the pyramid are cumulatively justified or normalized by all of the things beneath it. It literally says that in the top right corner of the image.

What's stupid about the image is that it hierarchizes racism with no apparent rationale. Like, how are confederate flags, a symbol, inherently worse than redlining, a practice with tangible effects?

1. The band members are effeminate men barely out of their teenage years who are conventionally attractive
   
2. The songs are all about being underdogs, wrongly oppressed, or being in love
3. It's pop music and we all know that Tumblr would have a collective seizure if you showed them anything good but obscure and unmarketable
4. Those bands and others like them are currently popular and tumblr always bandwagons on popular things (e.g. doctor who and sherlock)
5. Their social media presence is carefully crafted and monitored by a team of media managers that wish to portray the boys as family friendly
6. Tumblrettes haven't actually been in a relationship with a man that wasn't just using them for easy sex so they have no idea what to look for in a boyfriend and have confused being distant with being romantic
7. Tumblrettes will never actually go to the live concerts so they get to imagine their pop-stars as unapproachable and flawless demigods
